Gathered once again underneath the tree by the pond in the park, the students would find, in addition to the usual offering of tea, a small stack of books, which Shunsui encouraged them to take once they had settled into their spots.

"Ohayô, my intrepid poetry lovers ♥," he greeted with a smile, a nod, and a gesture toward the books now hopefully in their hands. "Today, we take another step forward on the journey of Bashō, or, perhaps more accurately, a step back, for while Bashō gained his acclaim through his travelogues as we discussed last week, what you hold in your hands now is a copy of his first published work, which isn't a book of his poetry at all, but rather an anthology of poems from a contest in which he judged, published in 1672. Kai Ōi, or The Seashell Game, is a compilation of sixty haiku by thirty-six poets, although only two are by Bashō himself ♥. The entire premise is based on a children's game, wherein two seashells are placed beside each other and compared, just as Bashō takes two poems and compares them, and determines which he finds to be the superior one. One of the best known examples can be found on the pages marked in your books, so let's have a look, at two poems about the color of autumn leaves:

"Our first, from the poet Sanboku:
How like it is to
A midwife's right hand–
Crimson maple leaf!

"And our second, from the poet Dasoku:
I haven't crimsoned.
Come and look!" So says the dew
On an oak branch

"And then, as you can see, a commentary from Bashō follows, wherein he essentially declares the first poem the finer of the two, by 'thousands of leagues.' Which begs the question: do you agree with Bashō on his assessment ♥? What do you think might be his reasoning? We can talk about some of the selections and decisions made in Kai Ōi, and then, of course, perhaps we'll do a little bit of a seashell game of our own ♥."

"Alright, you guys," said Prompto, grinning from the front of the classroom and clapping his hands to get everything started, "you should know the drill by now!" He chuckled a little. "There's...really not a whole lot of variety in how these classes are going to go; the variety comes from what you guys take pictures of! So let's just get right to it.

"You should have noticed we did a color theme for last week....I'm really excited to see what you guys came up with! And what's next week's theme, you may ask? Well, we'll get to that in a second, but first....let's see what you got! Who's up first this week?"

"Meep meep meep!" Beaker said from the front on his lab, surrounded by unlit sparklers, Mentos, and super glue.

This should go well. Travis, you ready? If you are there?

"Meep meep meep meep!" he said, holding up a fistful of sparklers and beginning to superglue Mentos onto them. Did this seem like extremely dubious science? Yes! Was one of those sparklers inexplicably smoking already? You bet.

"MEEP MEEP MEEP!"

Guess who just noticed the fire.

Cutter waited as long as he could for Connor to turn up to class, he glanced down at his phone to see if Connor had messaged him to say that he wouldn’t be coming in . Maybe Connor just needed space before he felt okay being able to teach class with Cutter again … but this wasn’t like Connor to not bother turning up at all. He bit his lip, wondering if he should just cancel class and go check on Connor but … he was trying really hard to give Connor his space now and maybe … this was all just part of it …

He took a deep breath and stared at the class, clearly he was going to be running it solo today, “okay, let’s get started … this week we’re going to be covering dreadnoughtus,” he began, “the Dreadnoughtus were from the late Cretaceous period and based on the rock deposits, they were found in southern Patagonia, Argentina, what makes the Dreadnoughtus particularly interesting is that it’s only known from two fossils and these were described in 2014,” Cutter had been rather fascinated to discover all of this when he had been preparing for class, “the larger of the two fossils had 115 bones and this only represented 70 percent of the dinosaur’s skeleton behind its head, now using these fossils …scientists have been able to determine that the Dreadnoughtus was a herbivore, it was 9 metres tall and it had an 11 metre length neck and this allowed it to eat from the leaves high up in the trees and so it didn’t have to rely as much on food from the ground,”

He stoped, checking his phone again incase there was a message from Connor but still nothing, “for the rest of the class I’d like you to work on your worksheets and I’ll be around to answer any questions,”

Class was being held in the Danger Shop, which in deference to the season was set up as an outdoor theatre.

No prizes for guessing what film was about to played on the screen.

"Sometimes the loot was the friends we made along the way to stealing diamonds and getting revenge on the guy who put us in prison," Aphra intoned piously.
