While Summer was starting to feel a little better (okay, no, actually, a lot better, but, you know, low bar) than she had last week, there were still a lot of topics that could be helpful for this class that she was still a little sore about and might make her go right back to feeling terrible. However, she'd also had some pretty big party-planning blinders on since Wednesday, and that also made it a little difficult for her to really think of a good next lesson. Until she realized that therein she found her solution.

"Parties," she announced at the front of the danger shop classroom sim, proudly and with a wistful fondness for the one thing that had very rarely ever let her down. "And party planning. For some people, it comes natural, for others, it can be a real slog, but being able to whip up a party in, oh, I don't know, let's just say five days or less, is definitely a skill that can be learned and honed and will always come easier with practice. I, for one, have always been a big advocate for partying, even back when I was your age, I threw some real bangers at this school, it was kind of what I was known for, so today, we're going to talk parties, how to throw them, what they're for, and then you're all going to get together and see what you can do about planning your own party....together!"

That's right, folks. When in doubt, pick something topical and then make it a group activity, and your work here was done!

Dwight stood before the class that morning as class started, breaking from the normal trend of watching a lesson and then discussing and practicing what had been demonstrated. Instead, the chairs had been arranged in a small circle in the middle of the room.

"Today we are taking a more laid-back approach to learning about wilderness survival. We are going to take some time today and share our own stories of overcoming the odds and persevering. It might have been in an actual wilderness or somewhere else, but the same skills and determination can apply to any situation where we get pushed to our limits. So, take a seat, and if you feel comfortable sharing, let's get started."

"When it comes to the senses we use when engaged in combat," said Ignis, now currently without his sometimes-co-teacher, which was probably a good indication that they were moving on from sound, at least, "sight and hearing are likely the two most people think of as the most useful. Obviously, touch is a big one as well, perhaps even more crucially than all the others, though that one is a little more difficult to work around in a class like this. However, one sense that we don't really think of as having much of an influence on our fighting skills is smell.

"Obviously, if one is tracking beasts in the wilderness," he continued, "smell can be very helpful, but what about other situations? Is scent something that can help or hinder us in a battle or a fight? I'd like to take some time today, for us to think about this and try to consider whether or not this is a sense that is important in these matters. Take some time, think about moments when scent provided useful or helpful clues for you, in any situation, not even necessarily combat, and try to think about what difficulties you might face if you could no longer smell. It's almost difficult to think about, really, which is why it might be enlightening to take some time and do just that: think about it.

"And then," he nodded slightly, "we'll try an activity to put your sense of smell to work a little, and create more of an awareness of those subtle things we may not really think about when we fight. But first...any thoughts, to get us started?"
