Photography; Thursday, First Period [03/17].

"Alright, guys," Prompto started class that morning with a little bit of a grin that was hiding the faint headache he had from last night's shots-and-karaoke extravaganga (he regretted nothing!). "You know the drill by now. Hopefully you managed to at least dip your toes into an attempt at fashion photography last week, so we're going to start with having a look at those and talking about what worked and what didn't, and then we'll get onto today's focus. Any volunteers to go first?"

And, of course, once that was finished, it was onto the lesson for the day, which, naturally, bled into the assignment for next week, and, really, you couldn't ask for a class that was more easily structured than that.

"Now, last week, there was a little bit of this with fashion photography done for catalogue work, but, this week, we're going to focus on commercial photography in a broader sense. With fashion photography, you're trying to help sell the clothes; with commercial photography, you're focus on other sorts of products, such aaaas....." He turned his attention to his own examples now being shown on the board, "Cup Noodle^TM!" Of course! "Or maybe Coleman^TM."

Look, them chocobros had bills to pay.

"You can see some techniques we've talked about in class being used to sort of highlight a product or evoke a certain feel related to that prodcut. For example, this is a pretty typical way of selling a nice liquor: dramatic, simple, showing the product in the glass and a clear image of the bottle it presumably came from. Sometimes, the drama is everything. Take a look at this toothpaste ad, even, with a sharp focus on the product but using almost artsy close-up and angles. Nail polish....perfume....cars...food....just about anything you can sell, really, people are going to want to make ads of it, and you'll notice that with all of these, the shots are simple, usually brightly lit, and colorful to catch the eye. And, here's a little secret, especially with the food ads you see...a lot of it's actually fake. Real food doesn't look that nice, but it definitely gets your attention and your stomach rumbling anyway, doesn't it?

"So, we're going to talk a little bit about how to get those bright, eye-catching commercial photos today. Not exactly high art, but it can be kind of fun and maybe even a viable option for a career, you know? And of course, I probably don't have to tell you guys this, but, for next week, I'd like to see some shots of you trying to sell me something, could be anything, from an actual product to....I don't know...an idea? Use your imagination. Just because we're selling our souls for mad bank doesn't mean we can't be creative about it, right?"

He chuckled a little. "Right. Now, let's get into it, starting, of course, with lighting...."

Wilderness Survival; Thursday, Second Period [03/17].

You know what? When Gladio got back on the island for his class that morning and saw that the weather was going to be pretty rainy, he felt that was a good opportunity to take advantage of the gifts nature had given them and do a nice little hiking trip again. Had they already done a class about being in the wilderness in the rain? Of course they had. But why not take advantage of the actual rain to cement in those skills and do an all-important review?

So they were meeting outside the school again, and Gladio was handing out ponchos, one of which he was already wearing and ready to go.

Besides, he may still be trying to put off that lesson on fishing for a little bit longer.

"Thing about this class," Gladio said, "is we've got this nice preserve and it's a shame to let it go to waste on a beautiful day like this, so let's get moving and hiking out to our usual spot, which I'm hoping you guys probably know the way to with your eyes clothes by now, and we'll go over camping in the rain again for old time's sake and with a little more focus on something more than just a shelter. So let's roll out!"

Library, Thursday 3/17

"I didn't know we had this many books with green covers," Belle said to herself when she entered the library. The library did have that many green books though, at least at the moment, or else they wouldn't be scattered all over the place.

The books weren't the problem. Belle was happy to peruse them while occasionally trying to round up and shelve some. The problem was that sometimes, out of nowhere, screams could be heard.

Were the screams coming from the books? From gremlins? From some sort of interdimensional portal? Belle had no idea. She just knew that she jumped every time she heard one of the screams and that she grew very, very tired of hearing them very, very quickly.

The library was open. It was just inexplicably full of screams.

There wasn't a Cara in class this week. Because she was busy being a very adorable animal that Jaskier would never say out loud for fear of his own safety.

He'd still end up saying it, but he'd definitely think better.

"It's a holiday today," Jaskier said brightly from behind the bar of the usual tavern. "Which, from what I gather, involves a lot of beer and the color green."

Yep, that's all he had.

"But this is a school and I gather there is a drinking age here, so... non-alcoholic green beer before the brawl that my lovely co-teacher already programmed into the system begins!"

Could he change it? Maybe. Would he? Nah.
