There were no sandwiches, super or otherwise, to be found in the Superheroing classroom this week. There was Halloween candy in the back of the room. ‘Twas the season, after all.

“Next week is a break from classes,” Stark said once everyone had arrived. “I don’t expect to see any superheroes in Boston besides the ones coming with us from here but you never know. Stranger things have happened. Maybe not in Boston. But certainly here. Strange things happen here all the time. Like last weekend. I was myself. Not everyone was. I don’t know if any of you were anyone you aren’t normally. If you were someone other than yourself I hope the experience wasn’t too upsetting.”

He glanced around the room, looking for reactions, before continuing. “Not being yourself sometimes is something that happens to superheroes as well, though not the same way as it might here. Sometimes they can’t be themselves because it wouldn’t be safe. Or at least they can’t let others know that they’re one person in their usual life but also a hero sometimes. Or the other way around. Here on this island that sort of secret wouldn’t be a problem. Other places it could be very dangerous. I don’t know much about Boston but I don’t think telling people there you’re a superhero for your job would be wise. Or telling them you’re from another planet, or another time.”

“So. Where you’re from, would you need to keep being a hero secret? Or would you need to keep your regular life secret? Are there superheroes where you’re from? What do they have to do?”

The class was meeting in the Danger Shop this week, so you all hopefully knew by now what that meant.

That's right, folks: CHOCOBOS!

Look, sometimes, you just had to embrace a thing for what it was, and this was clearly Prompto's idea for a class this week, because he was especially bouncy as he stood in front of the class in a place that looked a bit like a farm, but for chocobos, and he was grinning from ear to ear.

"Welcome," he said, with a sweeping gesture of his arm, "to Wiz Chocobo Post! Or, at least, our best attempts to recreate it, which I think we managed to get pretty good! But, anyway, Ignis, Gladio, and me, we were thinking, since we've got that school trip coming up next week, we'd try to find something to do that was inspired by the place, and there were definitely a lot of options to go from, but one thing..." Here, his eager expression moved into a little bit of a scrunched face of disapproval, "Big Guy over here," hitching his thumb toward Gladio, of course, who was the one now grinning from ear to ear, "got really stuck on this whole Boston Marathon thing."

"Apparently," Ignis offered, "it seems we may even be there during its run this year. Which naturally made us think that it would be an interesting to experience it for ourselves, but, instead of a Boston marathon, it would end up being a Fandom marathon to lead us through the streets of Fandom." A brief pause. "Stairs and all."

"It's a great run, you guys," Gladio put in. "I highly recommend it."

Prompto's groan made it clear that he did not, and he should know! He'd been running that nearly every other day ever since he started going to school here, thank you very much. "Thankfully," Prompto chimed in, "I was actually able to talk him down from that idea, because, correct me if I'm wrong, but the last thing you're going to want to do on a Friday before the school trip is run around the island a bunch of time. Right???"

Please be with him on this, students!

"We are still going to do a race of sorts," Ignis stepped in, "but one more in with the...supposed theme of our class. After all, as Prompto so wisely pointed out, if we have the chocobos....we might as well use them. Wiz Chocobo Post is a chocobo farm outside the city of Insomnia where we all are from, that specializes in breeding excellent chocobos and is well known for having a few chocobo racing tracks. So, today, we will take some time to get to know and learn how to ride chocobos, and then, we'll set off to the tracks to put our new skills ot the test with a few rounds of thrilling chocobo races."

"But watch out!" Prompto said with a laugh. "We're totally going to be racing with you!"

Because he couldnt' do that to himself, have a class race chocobos and not get to do it, too!

"And if anyone's interested in running the Fandom course with me instead," Gladio offered, maybe a little hopefully, but also realizing that this was a pretty hard sell, "we'll head out and hit the cobblestones."

He would, however, have instant respect for anyone who did take him up on it.

"Without further ado, then," said Prompto eagerly, "let's go meet some racing chocobos!"

The Danger Shop was all done up to look like a perfectly nondescript museum in preparation for the fall trip.

Just what everyone wanted, right?

"Today we'll be discussing sticking together as a group. Which can be difficult when everyone has an opinion on where to go."

"Because clearly there's an order to a museum," Steve said, nodding. "You go left when everyone else goes right, but as a group. And you skip anything with dioramas."

That might just be him, though.

"Or, you compromise and see one diorama." Because Tony was a neeeeerd.

"Or you pretend to use the restroom while that one person sees a diorama, but you are clear and concise about what you're doing," Steve said, "because communication is essential when you're in an unfamiliar environment."

Tony snorted and shook his head. "Let's get started."
