Have Portal, Will Travel; Tuesday, Fourth Period [03/02].
Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021 03:48 amThings were just a little bit different in the classroom that afternoon. Oh, sure, there was the portal waiting for them for this week's adventure, there was Summer leaning on the desk up front as she waited to get class started, but there was also...Rosa Diaz, looking like she'd rather be pretty much anywhere else right now, so this should be fun!
"Okay," Summer started, "true story time, but last weekend, I almost totally died, and it just really got me thinking that we haven't been paying as much attention to the more dangerous sides of portal travel in this class. It's mostly been, like, weird cultural differences or shifts in perception that can totally mess with your mind, but what about when you happen to find yourself somewhere where gross wet eggs jump at your face and try to take over your body and the only the that stops them from doing so is the fact that you have a toothpick in your mouth?
"Now, we can't all be expected to be munching on toothpicks 24/7 in the rare event that a space parasite tries to eat your brain but we can take steps to better prepare for situations that might get a little....rough. Which is what we're going to be focusing on for the next few weeks, barring any bursts of inspiration thanks to Fandom being Fandom. And that's why we have a guest today, Detective Diaz, who is much more trained in combat than I am. I mean, I'm scrappy, I've literally survived every battle I've been in, clearly, but I just kind of make it up as I go along. This woman's the real deal, though, and can show you the basics so that you don't necessarily have to. And with that...let's get going!"
( There's literally everything in space! )
Rosa trailed off slightly, her attention shifting because now there were two green aliens in jumpsuits attempting to pry the blob creature off the glass with a couple of squeegees.
"And try not to get too distracted," Summer chimed in cheerfully, as if this justified her insistence on a space gym, "by everything else going on! That's half the battle, right there!"
