Shunsui...sans swords, sans hat and haori, sans ponytail and about a thousand and a half years, but with academy robes and a lazy smile...must have missed a memo or a message from Yamamoto-sensei or something, which wasn't really all that surprising, he tried not to pay too much attention to things like that, but, apparently, it seemed that one of his...responsibilities (what a dirty word!) as a senior student at the Academy was to be here at some other school to...teach a class.

For one thing, it was absurd to him that Yamamoto-sensei would choose him over someone like Ukitake-san or Unohana-sempai, who were much better suited to be teaching things. For the other thing, he wasn't even sure what the Art of Space...art of emptiness? Art of Pause? was even supposed to mean.

But you know what? That was fine. Because if there was one thing Shunsui did know, it was how to just go about things intentionally wrong, so that they were less likely to ask you to do it again. Or, well, they were likely to notice that you were intentionally throwing it and lecture you about potential and ability and blah blah blah, but then he could just get in some practice on how to pretend to be listening when he was actually just napping...

Besides, once he saw who was presumably showing up in the class he was supposedly teaching, his plans for what to do became incredibly obvious.

"Ohayƍgozaimasu!" He beamed at...most of the class. "Let's not waste our time with preamble, and get right to today's assignment, shall we? And that assignment is simply your names, a few of your likes and interests, and whether or not you'll be willing to ditch this class with me so that we can go do something much more fun ♥ ♥ ♥."

Yes, those were waggling eyebrows.

Yes, that was an absolutely shameless grin.

Yes, this was terrible timing on the island's part, and there was plenty of time to flee before this gets even more awkward...

Just another Thursday with Steve at the front of the class looking vaguely uncomfortable! "Right," he said, running his fingers through his hair. "Mr. Stark is...slightly different today...so I'm going to take point on our topic today, which is the peaceful transfer of power from one president to another."

"Which is a very important thing. That's happened for a long time," Tony said, nodding and trying very hard to project confidence and knowledge despite knowing fuck all about politics at this age.

"Either through term limits or by losing the election, one president will leave and another will take over," Steve said, nodding, "and it's important for the continuity of government--to keep things peaceful--that it goes smoothly. In modern times, that means a lot of conference calls and powerpoint presentations and people becoming rapidly familiar with what the Department of Energy does."

Yeah, that one was also unfamiliar. "Um. Power plants?" Look, Tony was doing his best here.

"And nukes," Steve added with a smile. "So let's make this more fun: if you were about to be president and had the entirety of the US government laid out before you to learn about, what would you ask about first?"

"Going to Disneyland?" Tony suggested with what was hopefully a charming and not dorky grin.

"Very helpful," Steve said dryly. "How about the rest of you?"

Well, things were happening once again today. Things being one teacher was teenage shaped and shoving his inventory into a Jansport backpack when everyone arrived.

Like you do.

Cara was not a teenager (again again), and one eye was twitching very very slightly. "Today you're going to learn about leadership," she said. Very deliberately not looking at Magnus. "And the best way to do that is by leading."

"Oh man, where did I get this sick ass sword?" Magnus asked, totally ignoring her because he was a teenager, damn it. And teens were surly and stuff! YEAH.

"Put that down before you hurt yourself." Or don't, pain was a great teacher. "Anyway you're in charge, come up with something for the rest of the class to do," she said, pointing at a random student.

It was Maeve. Congratulations, Maeve.

"Oooow." Because Cara now had to deal with a perforated co-teacher.

And that would be why Cara just threw you under the bus, Maeve.
