Aphra looked exceedingly pleased with herself today. The kind of pleased that should have had the class looking for the nearest exit.

"Have I got a treat for you," she announced, grinning broadly. "Something that's going to test the limits of your creativity and lateral thinking skills."

"Behold!" She flipped the switch for the danger shop controls and a Wookiee appeared.

Sitting at an easel. Holding a paint palette. With a blank canvas on the easel.

"...wait."

"Heyyyy, you guys!" said Summer, who was clearly going all out today, as the Danger Shop was set up to look like a vast, nearly-deserted waste land, with the exception of the scrap metal and junk settlement they found themselves in, and she was even all dressed to the part. "Welcome the the Apocalypse. Or, well, you know, one of them. There's a million different ways the end of the world could go down, and this is just one possibility, but this is one I actually lived through for a while. In fact, hey, Tip," she grinned at her a little assuming she was there, "you remember that one time where my grandpa replaced me with a robot for, like, a month or so, right? Well, this," her fingers pointed eagerly at the spot they were standing, "was where I was while that robot me was here! Pretty wild, right?

"Anyway," she sang, because that was a totally normal thing to just move on from, "the Apocalypse usually comes with some good stuff, bad stuff, depending on your perspective, and you can either adapt to the brutal, nihilistic culture that has taken over in the lack of civilization, you can find a way out, or you can attempt to improve society and climb back to the point where it was before everything went to shit. Or you can just recreate it from memory to create a little Apocalyptic playground for your class, because why the hell not? The best thing about this class is that you guys only have to deal with these situations for the duration of the period, and then when something inevitably happens like it in Fandom, you've at least had some experience.

"So basically, today's just sort of getting a feel for a deserted wastleland apocalypse type situation, and you've got some options, so just find what hits your buttons today and let me know if you have any questions, because, I will not lie...." She gazed wistfully off into the distance, where there were marauding vehicles tearing across the desert in a cloud of dust and shouts, drums and flaming guitar riffs, "this is kinda my jam."

And with that wistful little look, another thought wormed into her brain, as she only just now realized what felt a little bit familiar about that dude from the Three Minute Dates on Saturday.

"Son of a bitch."

She cleared her throat. "Anyway! I am now seeing some of the negative effects of using a class to work through trauma, but, I'd also like to add, if you're not digging the whole end-of-the-world-from-severe-nuclear-fall-out thing, there is a way to fake-get us out of this fake-world, and that's by locating an element called Isotope-322, so you have the option of searching for that, and bringing the world back to civilization through its power or whatever. That's not exactly what happened in this world, but whatever, I wanted to give you guys an option other than just, you know, giving in to the hopelessness and embracing this nice little rust-infused post-apoco-punk nightmare."

[[ ocd is slooooowly incoming! finally up! Have at it! ]]

[[ CW on most links for this class for blatantly Heavy Metal-esque cartoon apocolyptic grossness, for lack of a better way to describe it? Taken heavily from S03E02 of Rick and Morty, "Rickmancing the Stone"]]

Neither teacher was in the classroom this morning, but there was a movie all queued up and waiting for the class once they'd arrived. So. Movie day! Those were always fun, right?

At least it was a class you could nap in, okay?

Just go with it.

Duke greeted the class with a cheery salute this week, careful not to disturb the hat-mounted feeder he'd found and was now sporting, or the tiny, ruby-throated bird feeding from it. More feeders hung along the walls, across the ceiling, and from small posts attached to the sides of various desks.

"This week, as you can see, we've got hummingbirds. They're tiny little flying jewels that have to eat almost constantly to stay alive, and will beat the shit out of each other to lay claim to any territory they find. Which is probably why there's like three feeders in here for every bird." He smiled at the bird in front of him. "Respect, little dude. Don't let the bastards get you down."

He nudged a stack of papers on his desk. "Now, maybe you're thinking that I'm wearing an example of the hats you all will be making today. You'd be wrong. You're going to make these guys really tiny straw boaters. And then figure out how the hell you're going to get them on the things without waiting for them to go into torpor. So . . . good luck with that. Oh, and:"

He shifted slowly backwards, demonstrating all that fine body control that came from regular yoga practice to keep from spooking his little bird friend, and added a new rule to his list:

"Choose your materials wisely," he said. "I'd hate to see you ruin these guys' sense of style."
