It would figure, wouldn't it, that as soon as Kincaid ditched the place for a little bit, Rosa would find herself in the throes of several stupid work related things. There was the whole thing with the woman yesterday and then today, just as she was getting ready to head to the school for her class, she got a call from the station that there was currently an Incident with the Bee Lady, one that Rosa tried to tell them they should handle, because Incidents with the Bee Lady were nothing new, and they said they were planning on it, but the Bee Lady insisted that the situation be handled by the Sheriff and the Sheriff alone, and they tried to explain that the Sheriff wasn't here, so if maybe Rosa could just talk to her as the next person down the line of command and the closest thing she'd get at the moment...

And Rosa thought she'd never say this, but she'd much rather be teaching her class. Thankfully, though, she had a back-up plan for something like this (and she was honestly surprised trooper business hadn't actually interfered with class yet like this) and made a quick phone call before rerouting herself toward Bee Lady's place.

Which was why the class had Amaya standing in front of both them and a TV screen in the classroom that day isntead of Rosa, and, although Amaya liked to think she could have come up with a better substitute class than just a movie day, she'd be willing to just go with it, since she knew Diaz had very strong views about this movie.

"Hey, everyone," Amaya gave a small wave. "Detective Diaz couldn't make it in today, so she sent me to cover for her, although today's lesson's pretty simple, which is: 'Just be like RoboCop AndroidPolice.'"

Which...Amaya had seen this movie, so she wasn't sure that was the sort of lesson they should be advocating (although, honestly, it was usually her philosophy in a pinch, too), but it was not her class, and she knew to never, ever argue with Diaz about RoboCopAndroidPolice.

"So, uhhh, yeah, enjoy the movie, and I guess after, if there's time," because who even knew how time really worked in these classes, anyway?, "we can discuss whether or not you'd agree with Detective Diaz. Don't worry. She's not here, so it's a safe space."

If you ignored that the place was probably bugged, anyway. But Amaya felt she had to do something that was at least a little more scholarly than just watching a movie, even if it wasn't even her class.

"Next week," Hannibal greeted them, "is a holiday in the country we are nominally a part of. It commemorates people from the continent to the east of us landing and making friends with the people on this one. Which lasted until they decided they could get more out of killing or subjugating them." Rude.

"The holiday is traditionally celebrated by eating food, largely the food of those people from the other continent. Instead, we will be attempting to make the food of the people of this one. Or at least, the people of this one known for welcoming the invaders, the Wampanoag, since those living here were not a monoculture."

He led them to the clay pots they'd be using.

"We will be making Autumn Sobaheg and Puttuckqunnege today. Please plan your time accordingly, and as always, ask if you have any questions."

"Sorry about last week," Tony said. "Hopefully you all enjoyed the robots, though?"

Steve grinned sheepishly and ran his fingers through his hair. "It was an interesting few days. And then the news out of Washington this week was very compelling. If you watched the hearings at all, please let us know so we can assign extra credit."

Or suggest a drinking game.

"But today we're going easy--" To save their own sanity. "--with letters of thanks to civil servants."

"They can be individuals in your own universes," Steve said, "or ones here. Next week is a holiday to stop and assess and give thanks--" because Steve was not going to start on his rant about exploitation of indigenous people or they'd be there all day, "--and so starting early feels...appropriate. Write a thank you note to Eponine in the post office, or to Liam or Rosa at the police station, or the folks over at the mayor's office. Them doing their jobs efficiently and professionally means that you don't have to spend time worrying about getting robbed walking down the street that are correctly maintained on your way to getting a package from home."

"For some reason there's glitter too?" Tony said, eyeing the supplies warily.

"Definitely put some into any letters you write the sheriff," Steve said, grinning.
