died8yearsago: (suspicious)
[personal profile] died8yearsago
Everything seemed to be in order in the studio that morning for the ballet class. The stereo was working fine, putting out the heavy metal intrumentals that suited Rosa's mood that morning (and, let's be honest, nearly every morning). The TV playing their clip for the day seemed to be working fine. The floor hadn't, like...turned into lava or anything, so, overall, everything seemed like it would go smoothly that day for class without any problems.

Rosa didn't trust it for a second.

Luckily, her suspicions were unfounded and they really would have a simple, straightforward, problem-free class that day, unless the students themselves decided otherwise. But they were all kind of nerds, so that barely even registered as a concern.

"This week," she said, "we're actually going to get into some light choreography. I bet you're all thrilled. So you know the drill. Find a spot, let's warm up."

"We should probably actually...teach you to do something in this class, huh?" Vanessa asked. "Or rather, show you a show that will teach you to do something, because that's the whole theme of this class." It was probably for the best they didn't try to actually teach.

"Naaaah," Wade said, waving his hand dismissively. "Like all high school classes, this won't teach you anything. It's when you get stuck in detention with a ragtag group of fellow students that you learn stuff. Like The Breakfast Club. Or the new Jumanji movie with The Rock. Babe, why couldn't we get him to play Colossus?"

Vanessa considered this for a moment before asking, "Do you mean like...roleplaying? Because I would be into that, if you think we could get The Rock to--oh right we're in front of minors."

"We'll discuss it later," he assured her. "But today we have Alton Brown before he gave into his darker urges on Cut Throat Kitchen."

"That's right," Vanessa agreed. "We're going to watch some randomly-selected episodes of Good Eats! Can you hear the theme music? I can hear the theme music."

"It's time to think you can cook when you're better off sticking to delivery," Wade sang happily.

"Enjoy learning how to cook...something," Vanessa said, and hit play.

"There are a lot of people out there who have no idea what powers a diplomat has," Anakin began, "and some of that is because different places give their diplomats different levels of authority. One thing that will be true, though, is that people, finding out what you do, will make completely unreasonable requests from you. Today's assignment is learning how to tell them no in a way that doesn't offend them but also means they won't be asking you again because they found your response to be unclear."

He paused. "And shooting at them isn't allowed."

Another life lesson from Obi-Wan Kenobi, kids!

"So settle in and I'll send a series of unreasonable beings at you for you to shoot down. Again, not literally."
