"Welcome class," Mitsutada greeted. "We are going to take a short break from swords of the Shinsengumi this week, as I heard from an eager sword who wanted to come visit."

That eager sword was the silver haired, child looking person who stood next to Mitsutada. He was dressed in the fashion of a much older era, including wearing tall tengu geta which helped make up some of his shorter statue.

"In fact," Mitsutada said. "I am just going to let him speak."

"Thank you, Shokudaikiri-san!" the boy said with cheer and a smile. His skin was pale, and his eyes were red... yet somehow this managed to be in the realm of 'cute' and not 'terrifying vampire child'. "I'm Imanotsurugi! The sword that protected Lord Yoshitsune! How's that, amazing right? Since his time at the temple, I have been by the lord's side, all the way until the end! That's right... until the very last moment."

"You might be familiar with Lord Yoshitsune from The Tale of Heike, but I bet there's some of you who aren't, so let me tell you his story, at least briefly. When he was young, Lord Yoshitsune learned magic and swordsmanship from Sōjōbō, king of the tengu. He would go op to do many heroic deeds, such as defeating the legendary warrior monk Benkei in a duel, leading to Benkei pledging his life to serving Lord Yoshitsune."

Imanotsurugi got a gleam in his eye at that.

"He would eventually become governor of Iyo province, but would eventually be betrayed by his ally in favor of his rival brother and he would be forced to commit seppuku with his tanto... me." He looked wistful for a moment. "It gets grisly, there. His former ally who had betrayed him would cut off Lord Yoshitsune's head, pickle it in sake, and send it to his brother Yoritomo as proof of what he'd done."

Imanotsurugi then smiled. "But it's so nice to talk about him to people who might not have heard about him before. I only hope you get to hear from Iwatooshi, the blade of Benkei, at some point. He's big and strong and full of great stories."

"Thank you for coming today," Mitsutada said, before turning to the class. "Does anyone have questions for our guest?"

"We're going to try something a little different today." Which Hera had decidedly mixed feelings about.

"And it isn't mandatory by any means," Kanan said, sporting his very own set of mixed feelings on the matter. "But we found a few holographic devices in a storage closet..."

Hera held one up, and with a dubious look on her face, pressed a button. The hologram came into play, and now she looked like herself...only human. "These will make it easier for us to interact with people over the causeway that aren't used to other species. Again, they are definitely not mandatory, though. Anyone who doesn't want to use them, we'll figure it out."

She'd admit she was curious about interacting with mainland people, but it still felt a little wrong. She turned the device off again. "The point of today isn't to draw attention, though; it's to help out at what is locally called a 'soup kitchen'."

Kanan had absolutely been staring at Hera with the holo on, yes. Mostly in bemusement.

"That is so weird," he supplied. "But... yeah. Today we're heading to a soup kitchen in town to serve food to people who otherwise have none. Our job will more or less be to stand there with a ladle and give people food as they walk by. It's not difficult work, at least not in a physical sense, but if you need to take a break for any reason, feel free to tap myself or Hera in and we'll cover for you."

Hera nodded. "Other than that, please be polite and follow the instructions of the people that run the place. If you have any problems with that, again, come and get one of us." She looked around. "Our portal should be here any second. Any questions before we leave?"

Since it was the first meeting of the year, Zoe had gone slightly overboard on food. There was pizza, salad, a variety of sodas, flavored waters, and coffee, and cookies, so many cookies.

"Hello everyone. Thank you all for volunteering, or re-volunteering for the council," she said, with a smile to the familiar faces. "This will likely be another year of planning events and dodging around whatever the island decides to throw at us, but it'll be good experience for whatever you all plan to do after school."

"We have two orders of business today. First, we have to elect a president from the seniors, and then we need to discuss ways to entertain the people who come to visit during Parents Weekend in a few weeks."

Today Steve and Tony met the class out in front of Portalocity. "We're going to register people to vote," Steve said with way too much enthusiasm, "in Brooklyn."

"Prepare for lectures about moral purity in not voting, " Tony said dryly. He judged Steve for choosing Brooklyn. He judged him so much. "Consider it practice for college."

"If you absolutely have to, you may kick one Bernie Bro in the shin. But only one," Steve said, handing out registration forms to everyone.

Tony mouthed 'At least three' behind Steve's back before giving the class a thumbs up. "Stick together. Captain Rogers and myself will be there if you need any help."

"The first person to register 20 new voters gets extra credit," Steve said with a smile.
