"Welcome back," Amaya gave the students a little wave once they'd all gathered on the site for this week's lesson. "Sorry about last week; long story short, always take a second to listen to your packages before you open them. If you hear buzzing...it might be bees. But good thing about this stage in the construction process is that it's a lot of work, but it's pretty simple stuff, like the insulation. And, for today, we're going to be working on the lath and plaster method for walls down here in the shop.

"Now, according to my research, this style of wall-building has gone quite a bit out of style; drywall is used more now, because it's easier and cheaper, so we'll be doing that upstairs in the apartment next week. But for the purposes of the shop, lath and plaster walls are more soundproof, which I'm sure the neighbors will enjoy," despite, you know, a good portion of the shop still being open air, but whatever!, "and it's also better for the prevention of the spread of a fire, should anything happen, since a smith deals with a lot of heat and a lot of potential fire hazards.

"It's pretty easy work, too, though, all said and done." Amaya shrugged, reaching for a frame so she could demonstrate some of the steps, with some before and after examples she'd whipped up.. How to nail the boards on, make sure it's clean, smooth on the plaster. And since it took a long time to dry, they'd notice a few walls were already done, and that's where they could work on the sanding on those until the others were dry so they, too, could be sanded.

"Not too difficult, right? But don't hesitate to ask questions. Let's get to work!"

Did Jono look a little bit like he just wanted to keel over and sleep as he stepped into the classroom today? Yes, absolutely. But he was here regardless, because it was just that important that he teach all his students about brooding rather than calling out with 'recovering from having a sick husband' as an excuse.

Look, Hannibal might have been a doctor, but apparently when he was cooped up in bed sick for a few days, he was... taxing.

//Awright,// he muttered, his Cockney accent just a tiny bit more pronounced than usual while he worked on gathering his thoughts. //Covered food, we did... I donno... location an' music. Didn't cover clothing,// and that was absolutely pronounced 'cloving' today, because Jonothon just could not be bovvered, //yet, so let's go wi' dat.// He waved a hand around a little. Christ, he could sleep for a week. //If yer goin' for a certain look, I'd suggest dark an' vaguely intimidatin'. If yer actually doin' some thinking, wear whatever yer like. Make it comfortable. Easier to ruminate on whatever needs more thought,// yeah, 'finkin' and 'fott,' you knew what he was saying, //if yer not distracted by...// he shook his head, mostly to wake himself up again, //pinchy shoes. Whatever.//

There were days when he'd contemplate murder just to be able to drink a cup of coffee again.

//Gave you all paper an' pencils, I assume most of you've got phones you can consult Google on for reference. Design yer ultimate brooding outfit. I'll wait.//

He would absolutely wait and not at all be using this as an excuse to grab a few more minutes of shuteye at his desk, bloody right.

Back in the dojo this week, with again weirdly no sign of a guest.

Mitsutada looked a little worried about this fact.

"My guest has arrived already, so I do not know where he is at. He did go for a stroll, but... no mind. I am glad Yamabushi did not scare any of you off. I did not expect you all to get sudden ascetic training."

He shrugged, apologetically.

"This week, we are going to be practicing with ootachi. They are longer swords than tachi, with blades some three feet in length on average. My guest is a shrine sword, meaning a sword from a religious shrine. Specifically, the Ishikiri-Tsurugiya Shrine in Osaka, which is known as a place to go for healing. He'd be better able to explain all that, but... I suppose I can try and take questions in his stead?"

He was struggling a bit, this was worrying him a little.
