Daria was not a Halloween person, or much of a "holidays of any kind" person, unless of course they got her off work/school. However, she was aware that most everyone she met assumed she liked dark stuff, so she might as well be on theme, right?

"While you're passing up last week's work, lets go over this week's," she said. "Since tomorrow is Halloween, I want you all to write a ghost story. The creepier, spookier, or gorier, the better. Give it at least a good ten pages. Really set up the mood.

"Also, if you're not aware, November has something called National Novel Writing Month. The challenge is to write a novella, at at least 50,000 words, in a single month starting on the first. This isn't an official assignment, but if you choose to participate and can show me proof by the end of November that you won, I will give extra credit. You've got a lot to plan, so get started."

When the students came in, they would discover tables along the wall filled with treats, and a large screen at the front of the room.

Those that had taken her classes before might recognize the set-up as 'Ghanima is Showing a Movie' Day.

On the board, she had written one section from chapter seven:

36. When you surround an army, leave an outlet free.
Do not press a desperate foe too hard.

"Nature teaches us that a cornered rat will fight longer and harder than one with an escape route," Ghanima said clearly. "People will become vicious and do anything and everything if they think there is no hope left. This doesn't just apply to armies. People will also behave this way in regards to their personal lives."

"Which is why today, you all get a movie," she stated. "I know many of you are distracted thinking about your costumes for the holiday tomorrow, but I want you to think about how some of the tactics we've discussed could be used in your interpersonal relationships. If we have time at the end of class, I'd like to discuss what you've just witnessed."

She spread her arms to indicate the three tables full of goodies. "There's moddable treats from JGoB, coffee, juice, and hot cider. Help yourselves."

Tip hadn't been planning on doing anything for Halloween this year -- she was fifteen, after all -- but now there was a Summer party to go to that required a costume, so she was surfing the internet on her shift today, looking for quick and easy costume ideas.

And going down a giant rabbit hole of "a sexy what?"

Maybe she should go super old school and just wear a burlap sack with two holes cut out of it. She'd probably manage to be the creepiest person there. . . .

Anakin and Obi-Wan were at the front of the class, as always, but this time they were joined by a crate of eggs, which was unusual.

"Instead of the robo-babies, which I've been informed were slightly off-putting," Anakin said, making a face, "we are trying something new: egg babies." He shrugged. "Apparently this is more normal on this planet."

He was judging you so hard, Earth.

"We have considered giving you eggs that actually need to be hatched," Obi-Wan continued, "But that would require rather more of a time commitment than we were planning to ask of you. Instead, these eggs are empty--" Except for the sensors that SOMEONE had put in there. "--But they still require some amount of tending." Beat. "Or at least not smashing them."

"Definitely not smashing them," Anakin said, glaring. "You will each get one because I don't believe that one parent should serve as primary care provider and one as secondary. You also didn't get any warning because sometimes you don't get any warning. You must carry this egg around with you for the entire week. Do not leave it in your room. Do not bounce it down the stairs. You may, if you choose, give it an outfit and take it trick-or-treating, but that is optional."

"If you do not," Obi-Wan said peacably, "We will know."

Or maybe that was a threat. Who knew?
