"Okay, kids, today we're talking about different kinds of firearms," Atton said, "Because they all require their own kinds of strategy. Today, we're doing introduction on two of the most basic cases of 'these two weapons do completely different stuff'-- the shotgun and the sniper rifle."

What they were seeing on the table were not actual rifles. They were laser weapons, meant for the ensuing game of laser tag.

"The shotgun gives a short burst in a big spread," he said, "but the range is terrible. The rifle can take down enemies at great distance, but it takes precision and a good eye to hit anything, let alone your target."

Beat.

"We'll go into the technical stuff next week," he said. "This week, we're playing laser tag. Pick your choice - shotgun or sniper rifle - grab a harness, and head into our dungeon of doom."

Which mostly just looked like a regular laser tag arena. There were even unnecessary smoke machines involved.

Once again, students would walk into a danger shop that was all set up for a movie day.

The teachers weren't giving up on this, damn it.

"We're going to try for that Lincoln documentary again," Nathan said, giving the danger shop controls a suspicious side-eye. "Since he was one of the major players in the war, and all."

Seriously. He was Kind Of A Big Deal.

"Certainly more kindly remembered than Davis," Goody chimed in. Because Davis was a worthless little shit when it came to being president. He had himself some Opinions on the matter.

"Mr. Algren assures me that this video does not involve children singing about the government this time. My apologizes to anyone who enjoyed it last time."

All one of you.

"No singing children," Nathan agreed, firmly. "So, might as well get comfortable. This is going to be a bit dry."

He hit play.

Sigh.

"...beggin' your pardon, Mr. Algren, but I don't believe Mr. Lincoln was much of a vampire hunter?" Thanks for stating the obvious, Goodnight.

"Well, he is now," Nathan muttered, shaking his head. "We can lecture about the man next week. If anybody needs me, I'll be over... there."

Thumping his forehead against a wall.

Enjoy the movie, kids.

Tip had gone home for the break rather than to the Caribbean, and so while she was a little disappointed to have missed island time, she was still in a really great mood for having spent the week hanging out with J.Lo (and even her mom). So when a slew of tiny arrows came launching inexplicably out of the art history section, of all things, all she did was build a tiny wall out of file folders to keep them from hitting her in the face.

When they switched over to flaming arrows, she started to get a little bit grumpy. But Bill had a glorious time darting through the air and bubbling each one to keep it from singeing anything, so even then she couldn't be too mad.
