Bond was waiting for his class in a normal classroom today.

"For once we'll be doing a sport which can be done outside the Daner Shop," he told them. "Today you'll be doing in the Mid-Autumn Lolly Run, wherein participants acquire costumes, then spend the evening seeking out donations of sweets from various neighbours."

This sport sounded suspiciously familiar. "The winner is the person who end the night with the fullest basket. So you should probably head off if you want a head start on your rivals."

The Danger Shop opened onto the junkyard setting again, mostly because Eliot was having trouble getting it to be anything else this week. There was a long, sloping wooden track in the middle of it, which Eliot was looking over with a faint look of suspicion.

"Right," he said, when class started. "So I was tryin' to get us some small stock cars or somethin' to work on for a racing class today." He gestured to the track, which was about six feet tall, with several wooden "lanes" only a few inches across apiece. "This is what the island decided to give us. So . . . we're doin' a pinewood derby." He gave the students his deeply inaccurate and inadvertently vaguely threatening Scout salute. "Yeah, I ain't never been a boy scout. Apparently makin' toy cars outta blocks of wood, plastic wheels, and finishing nails is somethin' they like doing." He shrugged. "Pretty sure they got all sorts of rules and regulations to it. I ain't much concerned with those, here." Neither, he guessed, were the majority of his students. "So here's the assignment. Make the fastest cars you can usin' the basic stock materials --" He held up a block of pine, four plastic wheels, and nails for axles. "And anything else you can lay your hands on out here. Other'n including the base kit, it needs to fit into one of these track lanes so you can actually race the suckers, but I don't give a crap how much it weighs or if you manage to cobble together a freakin' jet engine out here to make it go. Just -- don't set anything on fire." That was a pretty standard rule, but he still felt the need to reiterate it every now and then. "Get to work."

"So," Cecil said, "we were up a bit late because of Halloween yesterday - it's a very important holiday!" Sort of.

Also, there had been drinks at the party.

"And maybe you all were, too? So," he said, "we thought we'd just do a movie today."

Kanan had been less 'up late,' and more 'was still awake, somehow, but at least he had mostly changed out of his costume.' This was an improvement. Ignore the wide-brimmed gunslinger's hat on his head and the poncho dramatically draped over one shoulder. The sun had been in his eyes when he'd stumbled out of the Boards, and there was a chill in the air, dammit.

"Movie," he agreed. "The flatter cousin to the holo. I... have no idea what this one is about, but there was a purple tooka-looking thing on the cover and a rodent in a waistcoat, so... Weird, right?"

The movie was Alice In Wonderland, the animated Disney classic. So at least their choice was somewhat topical and appropriately weird, this week.

Plus there were flamingos.

"So, yesterday was Halloween, so I thought today we would discuss something scary." Vanessa wiggled her fingers at her students. "STDs! We've already covered ways to prevent STDs, but now let's discuss how to figure out if you might have one." Vanessa handed around a pamphlet as she discussed the symptoms of various STDs, and how they could be treated. "Now, remember, most STDs are curable, or at least treatable. Even HIV isn't the death sentence it once was, although it is still very much to be avoided. But none of that may be true where you're from, so back home I would advise you to seek out the most accurate information you can and proceed accordingly."
