"Sooooo…" Cecil started excitedly. "Parents' weekend!" He threw out his hands. "What do you think?"
"I think there are going to be a lot of nosy people coming to the island this weekend," Kanan offered, because somebody had to be the party pooper here, and apparently he had taken it upon himself as his own personal solemn duty. Or something. "Poking around people's business, asking around about whoever they're here to see..."
Somebody was just bitter that he didn't have anybody who could visit him. Don't mind Kanan.
Cecil rolled his eyes. "People visiting and checking out your teachers," he said with the perfect equanimity of someone who didn't have an office, "and your friends, and just the whole place in general. And I mean, I'm sure they mean well, right? But maybe they'll be alarmed at the open library, or the actual computers, or whatever."
"So," Kanan said, not looking terribly thrilled at the prospect of anybody's parents coming to check out the teachers, thank you, "let's talk about that. Let's talk about the things around the island that you're looking forward to showing off, if you have somebody coming. Or the things you'd rather they not see."
"And if you don't have anyone coming," Cecil said, "how do you plan on handling everybody else's someones? Hide all weekend, or be really nice, or scare them off, or what? Let's trade ideas!"
