When lunchtime rolled around, Zoe got everything set up in the classroom, setting out pizzas, sodas, and different types of cookies (pumpkin season hadn't completely taken over yet, so there were plenty of normal options). After everyone arrived and got settled, she gave the students a genuine smile.

"Thank you all for coming to our first council meeting today. I'm glad to see some new faces among the familiar ones," she said. "For those of you who are new, the Student Council is in charge of most of the social events that happen at the school--Homecoming, Parents' Weekend--" The occasional glitter birthday party she pretended to not know about... "So it's good to see so many of you interested in helping out. Next week, I'd like to get together to talk about Parents' Weekend, but this week I just want you to have a chance to get to know one another if you don't already, and we have to pick a president from among the seniors." Considering her seniors, this was going to be a very interesting year.

The books didn't surprise her anymore. Perhaps that was why they didn't bother to make an effort to annoy her anymore, or maybe they were in a sleepy mood. Whatever the reason, they were quiet today, letting Lucille read whatever she liked without being undisturbed.

Well, there was an occasional howl from the geography section, but that was easily ignored.

There was no teacher in class this week. Not in the 'comedic timing, show up fifteen minutes late with Starbucks' way. In the 'lone tumbleweed rolling across his desk' sort of way.

But there was a note on the board at least.

Lesson number three (or maybe two? I don't fucking know.):

Just don't show up to things. Nothing feels better than cancelled plans, kids. Now go be hungover somewhere else. Maybe watch some Netflix.

Awww, he was trying to teach you with negligence!
