For today, Sam had decided to get everyone together in a regular classroom, and he waited for everyone to come in and have a seat before getting up from where he was leaning against the desk.

"Hey guys. I'm gonna assume everyone's here for Hunting 101. Uh, welcome," he said, smiling to get rid of some of his nervousness. "My name is Sam Winchester. I don't think I've had the pleasure of getting to know any of you yet, but that's what the first week is all about, right? So, I come from a family of hunters - supernatural hunters, not like, random animal hunters. Our family business is finding demons, ghosts, and any other creatures that are hurting people, and taking them out. But, I also graduated from Fandom, so I know that not every special creature you might run across is necessarily evil." Hopefully, that would be reassuring to anyone special in the room. "My goal with this class is to help you recognize the signs that something evil is around, and start to know how to take care of the problem. Considering how often this place gets invaded... well, we'll see if it's all useful."

Sorry to anyone who didn't know about the invasions yet! "For today, I just want to get a feel for who's here. Let me know your name, and any experience you might have with the supernatural. Oh, and if you have any weapon training, that would be good to know too."

Cosette was rather excited about a new semester, even if her class later today was one she certainly hadn't signed up for on purpose. (She might just be going a little bit wild with the idea of having the chance to learn all sorts of new things, so who was she to turn down an opportunity like that, even if it was some sort of paperwork error?)

The library seemed to be excited to see her, too -- or at least, that was how she chose to interpret the return of the aviation books' air show.

"Remember, now," she called, "it's all well and good so long as you don't hurt yourselves. If you do that, then I shall have to be cross."

[OOC: OCD-free, oooooOOOOoooooo.

. . . I have no idea.]

To look at Atton, you'd have trouble telling he'd actually gotten a lot better in the year since he last ran this class: he looked every bit as bedraggled and hungover as he felt. Still, much like last year, he had eventually managed to drag himself out of bed, and now he was standing here, eyeing over the class.

"...Welcome to We-- I mean, How To Get By In A Hostile World," he drawled. "My name is Atton Rand, I used to go to school here, so don't think I don't know what I'm talking about. Okay. If you're in this class, it's probably because you're from somewhere terrifying where you're not exactly on top of the food chain. That may mean being an unpowered person in a world full of near-gods, or somebody who has powers but not exactly the kind that'll shake the world, or maybe you're just some poor schmuck living at the bottom end trying to get by."

Beat.

"Of course, if you're just here to show off how special you are, you can get out. Now."

Another beat. He waited for anyone to get up.

"...Okay, good. Anyway, I have powers now, but I didn't use to - or at least I didn't have the training so I might as well not have had them. Growing up, there was war all around us, and the people who actually had the powers to stop it decided to sit at home and twiddle their thumbs because the situation was quote-unquote 'complicated'. I've seen worlds burn and friends die."

He took a deep breath. He needed it to keep playing casual. "The only way I made it through the first decade or so of being on my own was by thinking on my feet," he said. "Exploring the weaknesses of people stronger than me, figuring out how to squeak by unnoticed, that kind of thing. So that's the stuff we'll be covering."

Atton nodded at a random student. "Talk to me," he said. "Who are you? What situation are you facing? What are you hoping to get out of this class? That kind of thing. Introductions are useful here, because a technique is only helpful if it's tailored to your actual situation." After a pause of contemplation, he added, "...And I'm looking for a TA, so volunteer if you want. Go."

Today, for the very first time, Brian's class would be meeting in--gasp--a classroom. "Hey, guys!" Brian said cheerfully once his students had all arrived. "I'm Mr. O'Conner, and I'm your teacher for this semester. This class is going to be--practical, but I'm assuming you all already know how to drive a car. If you don't, well...when we get into simulations, you'd better learn real quick. If you don't know what a car is, I'm not sure how much I can help you.

"So. A couple of pieces of business. First, I'm going to need a TA, so if anyone's interested hit me up after class. Second, paperwork." Brian passed out some booklets and diagrams. "The manual, there may or may not be a test on at some point, and you'll need to know it to get your driver's license if you don't already have it. The engine, learn and love, people. Third, introductions. I know, I know, you're probably sick of it, but tough. I need to know who some of you are. So tell me your name, your year, and what kind of car you're driving. If you don't have a car, tell me your dream car. I'm Mr. O'Conner and I'm driving a Mitsubishi Lancer. Don't egg it. I'll know it was you. Now, what about you?" he asked one of the students at random.
