In between her morning walk and her arrival at the library, Cosette had stopped in town to get some kind of pretzel bread breakfast sandwich and some coffee.

. . . which was the entire, if not exactly interesting, story of why she was reading about pretzel bread and how pretzels were supposedly invented. It really didn't take much at all to get her to read about random things.

[OOC: No OCD today. ZOMG.]

Before starting this job, it had not entirely occurred to Brian that for most people, driving a car was not second nature, although to be fair it wasn't like he'd gotten a lot of time to think about it ahead of time. (Also, he'd learned by stealing one when he was fourteen, but that was so not the point.) And he was a lot better rested this week, having picked the lock gained access to the storage room McIntosh had told the landlord to put the contents of his allegedly-furnished apartment in, since Hale was on the other side of the country and couldn't give him the key.

The setup in the Danger Shop was the same as it had been last week: city street, night, four sleek little sports cars. Except this time Brian said, "Okay, so. Steering and braking, you'll get those, it just takes practice. Better to get that in here than out in the real world where you might get hurt. Some of you really need to work on shifting gears, though." Like, really. If these were real cars and not hard light holograms he wouldn't let some of you back in them. "So let's go over that." Brian patiently walked the class through how to know when to change gears before declaring, "And now? We race. Same deal as last time, give it a shot and then if you want some more practice, just wait until everybody else is through.

"Oh, and if you have any questions or anything, I'm here for you. If you'd rather talk to someone else, Ronan here will be my assistant for this class." Although Brian was probably the more approachable option.

The sim looked exactly the same as it had last week when the students entered the Danger Shop, right down to having Hardison sprawled on the stairs, poking at his laptop. "Hey, y'all," he said, nodding. "Pull up a patch of floor or wall or whatever, a'ight? Normally, the way things are gonna go, the first few minutes of each class is gonna be spent goin' over what y'all've accomplished last week an' then tellin' you a bit about the day's scenario. But this week's gonna be a little bit different cause I think it's kinda important that we make it really clear how this class is gonna work."

Cara had decided that given that she was only going to be talking today and the size of her class, she might as well hold class in her office today. After taking the needed extra chairs from one of the unused offices.

"Last week we talked about gremlins making you think you weren't yourself," she began, leaning against the edge of her desk. "If only it stopped there. As you have no doubt noticed by now, the island will also change you physically. If you are lucky, you'll still be you, you'll just have some new anatomy to play with." Or get into a sulk over because yours wouldn't behave.

"It doesn't end there, you may become a child again, or else someone entirely different, or some strange version of yourself you barely recognise, however even then you will usually remain a person of some description. Usually. Sometime, however-"

As if prompted by some spirit of the perverse, mid-sentence there came a soft whoosh of displaced air, and Cara's leathers fell to the floor, empty save for a furiously chittering lump, that soon revealed itself to be a furiously chittering chipmunk.

Congratulations, you just got a practical demonstration of the class topic.
