Because Face liked to consider himself a responsible person (regardless of how accurate this was), he came in for a shortened shift to ensure the Library was all squared away and the returns were all checked in before he headed down to the causeway to wait for the trip portal.

He might also have been taking the time to download some things that he'd been meaning to read to his phone for later perusal.
