Bright and early, Riley was back in the Danger Shop, waiting for class to start. When everyone arrived, he jumped right into it.

"Today, we're heading to Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California so we can ride the Full Throttle," he said, smiling. "This roller coaster features the world's tallest vertical loop at 160 feet. It's also the first roller coaster to feature a top-hat element on a loop. A top hat is an element common to launched coasters. A standard top hat consists of what is essentially a hill with a 90 degree ascent and descent; the train exits going in the same direction from which it entered. The track twists and the train does not go upside down."

Riley nodded and started up the sim. "Time to go for a ride!"

It had taken years of experience with some of the island's stranger points for Jono to be able to stand at the front of the classroom and deliver a lecture without so much as a fidget, given some of the things he'd gotten up to with his co-teacher last week.

//You're probably at least aware of the stones that a good many people around the island wound up carrying around for a few days last week. If you aren't… I'll teach you how to use a radio. If you're in a class about music appreciation and don't know how, I apologize profusely; I've let you down as a teacher.// Thanks for that, Jono. //These crystals, whatever they were, toyed with people's emotions, left people bouncing from relaxed to frustrated to anxious and… so on. And that set the topic for today's class quite neatly. This week, we'll be talking about the emotional aspect of music- music that's written specifically for the purpose of appealing to a person's feelings.//

Today the class was meeting in the Danger Shop because Ben needed the space--some for the class activity but mostly so he could zoom around in his amazing Swedish meatball-powered rocket propelled desk chair.

And if you didn't understand why this chair was awesome, Ben was very, very sorry for you.

"Right," he said as he zipped by. "It totally blows when your mode of transportation breaks down in the middle of nowhere and you don't know how to fix it. Since you're all from such different time periods and situations, I've come up with three different scenarios for you to work on: your horse has thrown a shoe and you need to reshoe it; your car has stalled and you need to jump it; and your hyperdrive has stopped working because someone's sabatogued it and also they're shooting at you."

Guess which one was drawn from Ben's personal experience. Go on, guess.

"You can try one, two or all three scenarios. There are instructions at each station or you can try via trial and error if you don't mind getting kicked and/or electrocuted."

Helpful, Ben.

Kate had had some totally awesome plans for today's lesson. None of them had included waking up feeling like she was coming down with something that made it hard to brain. She should've stayed at home, probably, but she was too stubborn for that. But the students were still getting a movie day. The Danger Shop was running a movie theater sim, though, so at least there was that?

"Today we're... covering the awesome of relaxing with entertainment. Yes." Nicely phrased for someone trying hard not to slump too much in her seat at the back of the theater. "So we're watching I Was A Teenage Teenager. Try to spot potentialy awesome things. Or boggle at the ultra nineties fashions. Or, just enjoy it. Let's just watch it."
