"Hey guys, welcome to your last class with us, unless you're going to come back for more in the next session--which you definitely should," Sam said with a smile as everyone got settled. "Since today's our final day, we thought it would be a good idea to have you take a little quiz."

Sam thought tests were a good indicator that people had been paying attention in class. Dean thought it would be fun to piss off some of the students. Sorry kids, you never had a chance.

"It won't be hard or anything, and when you're done you're free to go and enjoy the rest of your day. I think I speak for Dean and myself when I say it's been really awesome getting to talk to you guys for the last few weeks." Okay, maybe he was only speaking for himself, but he was going to pretend Dean shared the sentiment, so there.

Sholeh came into work humming a little bit but was abruptly hushed by the books. At first, she assumed that it was out of respect for the library's noise policy, but going into the stacks, she discovered that was incorrect. Some of the science books had banded together to make a working radio out of random parts and now most of the books were huddled around it, anxiously listening to...some kind of news report?

After listening for a few moments, Sholeh realized she had no idea what was going on (the radio's reception was also pretty fuzzy), shrugged her shoulders, and went back to the circulation desk. She'd make sure all the books got back to their places before her shift was over, but so long as they were being quiet, she couldn't see a problem with letting them listen.

"For our final class, we're going to talk one of the biggest scams of all time - real estate," John stated grandly as class got started. "It's a fucking swindle in most countries even when done above the board, which means it's ridiculously easy to do it even when you haven't got a cigarette to sell."

and if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you )

It was finals week, and the class had been instructed to meet up in one of the normal classrooms. There was no Spirit, though. Just a note on the door:

No traditional final. There is no way to test and grade whether you have what it takes. But if you want to, you should go into town now and do something good for her. There is always something that needs doing.
That's the lesson you should have learned.

- The Spirit

Go forth and do good things, kids.

[Ugh heatwaves are not good for me. Neither is running errands during one. So here, have a slightly lame final, and thank you all for participating! ♥]
