Today they were meeting in the Danger Room, which, after some finessing, had been made to look like a dive bar in Georgetown. Not that Josh had ever spent time hitting on college girls while he was in the White House.

He had hit on grad students. It was much less creepy.

"Hope you worked on being persuasive this last week," he said, "because this is the true test--you have thirty seconds, maybe--to make an impression good enough that the other person isn't going to get bored or annoyed."

That's right folks, you're working on your pick-up lines. Who said class wasn't useful?

"Start up conversations with as many people as possible. Person with the most phone numbers at the end of the time gets extra credit," Josh replied. "You have half of class to do it, and then--" he pounded on the bar in a drumroll imitation, "Natalie Adams is our press secretary today. You are also my TA. Try not to bring shame upon me."

"Welcome back."

The space at the front of the class had been cleared of everything besides the desk, which Kaidan was currently perched on top of. "Today, you get to show off," he said. "Talk about your woodworking project, talk about what you're doing with the battlebot. But you have to talk about something."

He crossed his arms. "You've all got your partners now - Jessica, Lex, I didn't get a sign-up from you, so you're a team. Bucky, you're with me." He had a feeling this could only end in tears otherwise - or a roomba with a knife on top. (Actually, it might still end up with a roomba with a knife on top.) "Other than the presentations, today is your planning class. Huddle up with your partner and draw up plans if you haven't done so already. If you have, get to work. Next week, we'll be focusing on auto repair, so you might not have time to work."

"First person takes the floor..." He glanced over the class. "You."

The Danger Shop was currently a meadow on top of a little hill on a pleasant summer evening, and above them the sky was dark and stars shone brightly. ... It really was too bad lacrosse club membership didn't overlap much with that of the Apathy Club, as otherwise this might have all felt a little familiar. And yes, apparently the Danger Shop computer liked technically challenged Jeremy Darling more than it did Jackson Whittemore. Who looked like he was barely restraining his annoyance, by the way.

"We're going to try playing here," he announced. Through his only slightly gritted teeth. "Part of being a good lacrosse player is being able to go with your surroundings, no matter how... ridiculous they may be." Bullshit. "Get to it."
