From various radio reports he'd heard over the past few days, Thor gathered he'd missed something rather important while he'd been off visiting Jane for a week (he still didn't know what had possessed him to go, only that he had to see her. He felt vaguely guilty that he'd missed a class, but apparently it had been covered, so he wasn't too concerned.)

"First off, I'd like to apologize for missing class last week! I'm given to understand that something... unusual happened to the island in my absence, and from what I have heard it seems like quite the troubling experience. I hope none of you have suffered any adverse effects of those events!" Personally, he was kind of disappointed to have missed what appeared to have been some sort of battle. That it wouldn't have actually been himself involved in said battle was apparently the sort of distinction Thor wasn't going to bother to make.

"In the spirit of letting you recover from a trying week, we are going to watch a film! Entitled The Cloak, it is about a man who finds a cloak that allegedly belongs to Loki, and has many misadventures as a result!"

There were a few false starts as Thor figured out the workings of the DVD machine, but eventually the lights dimmed and the movie began to play.

This week in class, Jaime greeted his students with a shield strapped to his right forearm. It felt clumsy and altogether wrong, but there was little choice else wise.

"It seems that I've missed an entire week, including your class," he told them dryly. "And all without the aid of a goodly amount of wine."

Lannisters/Wine OTP, yo.

"But I hope you learned something with your replacement class." With an archer. Ugh. "Today we become accustomed to the weight of a shield. Your shield and weapon should act as an extension of yourself, moving fluidly as your muscles have become used to it."

Until you have to learn it all over again as a crippled swordsman. Cry more, Jaime.

"Grab a shield and test the weight if you will." They were sturdy, heavy wood. Little nicks and gouges dotting the surfaces, but in perfectly working order.
