While some students were getting rid of some babies in one class, other students were about to gain other babies in another, with one notable difference. The babies in Primatology were bound to be much more...furry.

Monkeying Around. )

Jane, of course, talked a bit more about parenting the primate way before she clapped her hands together and announced, "So enough talk! Take some time and get to know the baby primates and see how they interact with you and keep in mind all I've said about primate parenting. And, as we're playing, let's discuss how primate parenting differs or is similar to how humans tend to raise their babies...or perhaps how other animals raise their young, as well, while we're at it!"

"Hi, guys!" Ariel bounced at the club a little after everyone had the chance to arrive and mingle a little. "So, I don't really have anything in particular in mind for today; we can take it easy and sing about whatever we want. But I definitely have plans for next week, and we can get started on it today if you want. You see, in the last new episode of that one show, they actually did original songs! I thought, hey, we could do original songs, too! So this week, we'll have fun. Next week, I want to hear what you come up with!"

Ariel beamed like she already knew at least three songs she might sing.

"Anything else interesting going on for anyone? Anything you want to sing about? Anything at all?"

The truth was, Henry didn't mind when he got to the library a little before the aides did. He might need to start his own coffee, but he liked the time when it was just him and the books.

And today, the books didn't even seem to be in revolt. Henry was going to put the foreign literature section back into order as he watched the front desk for anyone who might need some guidance.

Alex was late, as she bustled into the classroom. She did look suitably embarrassed about that.

Even more so when she discovered that she'd misplaced her syllabus, and all of her class notes. Which left her with no idea what today was supposed to cover.

Well, then.

"You all have my apologies, for lateness," she began, leaning back against her desk. "It's unacceptable, and it won't happen again. You have my further apologies in that I'm not sure what it is I should teach, today, but we're near the end of the semester, so let's call today review and filling in."

She wished she had tea. She could use the caffeine. But she'd been late, so no stopping at the Perk on her way.

"Tell me something we haven't covered that you think we should, or something that we've covered that you'd like to tackle in greater depth. Or something we covered that's been bothering you. The topic is up to you. Let me know what our fictional country has yet to address."

The Danger Shop was gussied up to look like a camp fire today. There were logs around the fire for everyone to sit on. There were even bags of marshmallows. "Hello!" Between the social seating and how happy he was to see everyone, it probably wasn't going to be a good day for the introverts. "Marshmallows are real, fire is not. It will cook the marshmallows though if that's your sort of thing.

If you take nothing else away from this class, take this: marshmallows are always better warm and gooey. Also, you have no better tools at your disposal than your ability to communicate and a quick mind. Mostly the marshmallow thing though.

Starting with you," he said, pointing at whoever was sitting closest to his left, "you're going to tell us a story about yourself or something you've done. It's going to be compelling and might even convince the King, because there's almost always a King, to spare your life. He wants some entertainment and what you can come up with will determine your fate. Same as always, really. Doesn't have to be real. On you go." He slid onto the dirt, propped his elbow up on the log and settled in for a good yarn.
