"All right, today we're going to talk about" -- Drake snapped his fingers and there was the appropriate sound effect -- "the First Date. Yeah, they can be terrifying. And exciting. The key is just to relax and be yourself. And if it doesn't work out" -- cue another sound effect -- "at least you tried.

"If you're already known the person for awhile, you've got an advantage in knowing what they like to do. If you don't, try to get an idea from their friends. If you're completely in the dark, go for something like dinner and a movie, but make sure you have a back-up plan in case your date doesn't eat the kind of food at your first restaurant of choice. Try a hike and a picnic, or spend some time at the beach or at a zoo, or maybe a museum or art gallery. Creativity is a plus, but don't go too overboard, or you'll have a tough act to follow for the second date.

"Two things are the most important to remember: be yourself. Don't work too hard to impress your date. You want them to like you for you, not someone you're pretending to be. And have a sense of humor. Something is probably going to go wrong -- you'll spill a drink, you'll lose your tickets, you'll set your date on fire -- but if you can laugh it off, you'll be able to relax and have a good time.

"Now, I want you to grab a partner and pretend you're going out on a first date. Decide where you're going to go, then act like you're really there." Drake grinned, and added, "Try to pair up with someone you don't know already so you really get that awkward effect."

There was something oddly appropriate about having a class on giving the finger to every rule and principle you know first thing in the fucking morning. Sure, it meant Loki had to get up ass early but it also meant he got first crack at the students and they'd remember him during their other classes.

Today's class was... )

"Welcome to Havana, Cuba," Ziva said once everyone had arrived at the Danger Shop. Today, the students would find themselves in the dressing room of a nightclub where, judging from the sounds being muffled by the door, the party was already in full swing.

"One of the biggest obstacles to not appearing as an outsider when you travel, especially if you are going to a country for the first time, is often the language barrier. It can be difficult to find things to do in a place where you do not speak the native language, and guide books and dictionaries can only take you so far. If you truly want to enjoy yourself, you must find activities that involve as little speaking as possible." She smirked as she nodded her head towards the door to the club. "Music and dancing are universal. Get dressed to have fun and see if you can get by without translations."

Sam got to the library a little early today, and decided to do some cleaning, taking care of the dust in some of the harder to reach places that weren't so hard for him to reach. Sometimes, being tall had its advantages.

Artie was seated on thin air at a folding card table when the students arrived. Once they all were gathered, he gestured for them to sit down at any of the other tables set up (they, at least, had actual chairs).

"Welcome back, students! I hope you all have had a pipe weekend! I know I have!"

Each table held a fairly impressive pile of cards. Artie picked up a handful from his. "Today, we will play poker! But not just any poker, oh no. Any hand can win, as long as you can tell us why. Be creative! If you have three clubs, maybe they can bludgeon your opponents' three kings! It's up to you.

"Homework! Pick one day this week. You will spend that day being silly, in everything you do. Perhaps spend the whole day saying nothing but the word 'dreeble'. Perhaps battle an evil bowling ball. Make people ask you what you are doing! Make them think you are weird. Don't tell them; just let them wonder! Next week, you will tell us about your day of silliness!"

[ooc: Apologies for the lateness. I . . . actually just woke up. OCD on its way. is up. Go fish!]
