It had been inevitable, really. Week after week of feigning sleep as the students arrived had, given that this was Max, virtually guaranteed that one day he'd actually be asleep. His head didn't loll back, and he didn't snore. In fact, he looked pretty much exactly like he did at the beginning of every class. Except that he didn't have his sunglasses on (they were lying on his desk next to a pack of multi-colored sharpie markers) and his eyes were firmly closed. When the last student arrived he sat up abruptly assuming no one rudely awakens him first and looked around in confusion for a moment. Then he figured out where he was and cleared his throat.

"Today your assignment is simple. Each pair of you has picked a task. Today you'll detail that task and how you plan to accomplish it, at least in broad strokes. But most importantly you'll explain what precautions you've taken to avoid officious interference. What measures are you employing to avoid having to ask anyone permission, which tends to take forever to get, or for avoiding other people taking over and wrecking your project?"

He looked over the students. "I'll call each pair up here and you'll explain things. Then, if you want, you're free to question the pair on details of their plans and suggest situations which might cause problems." He was going to call everyone, whether they were there or not, and if people weren't present or dawdled he was going to scowl. Very menacingly. Except without any menace.

Library, Friday

It was Buffy's last day in the library, which was more than a little weird. It was even weirder that she was spending her last day in a high school library without a Giles around. Consider that for a moment. Weird, right?

For now, she was looking around to make sure she wasn't leaving any of her stuff behind, and wondering if she could skip out early claiming to be unfireable.

Vince had been sorely tempted to steal some of the programming from the Superhero Fashion final for today's final in the Danger Shop, but he eventually went to take the time to get this all set up himself.

The catwalk was less Milan, and more MTV, with its lights and LCDs and etcetera.

"I'm not going to do much talking," Vince said. "I just want your outfits to do the talking. I've opened the doors for anyone to come in and watch this, so do your best. And remember, confidence! You've all been brilliant. Each and every one of you. No matter what you wear, I will be proud of your work."

Needless to say, Vince was a total pushover and giving everyone A pluses.

As the class headed in today, they'd find the usual clearing set up in the Danger Shop had a little village near it this time, though they were on its outskirts, with the usual choices of weaponry and armourments available to the students. Minsc clasped his hands together with a loud sound to get things started.

"Hullo!" he said. "It is our last day! So let's do some rangering!"

He made a sweeping gesture toward the village. "Random Village here has been having some problems! These problems seem to be of a distinctly creature-like manner, making you, as a ranger, before for the task of vanquishing it! From here, you are on your own! ....Unless you decide to partner up, you can do that too, or even work in a group if you'd like! I like groups of six myself. But! From here, you can go into the village and ask around for clues on what is happening. Or you may stay here in the woods and put your tracking skills to use! Or both! It never hurts to use all the resources available to you!"

"I will tell you one thing," Minsc said, "the source of this problem has with it a treasure! The point of the final, then, if to find the source, stop the problem, find the treasure, and then bring it back to me. If you do not find the treasure, but have a grand story of adventure instead, that is also acceptable."

"Now go forth!" he barked. "And ranger away!"

"We are nearing the end of our time together," Mitchell started. He was seated on the back of his own couch, lounging in his own way. "So you'll all have to kiss each other off and say goodbye for good. At least 'till you run into each other on the stairs when you head back home from class."

He gestured to the TV, which was now set up in the middle of the room. "Last week, you picked a program," he said, "Today, I want to hear about it. Did you have fun, or was it boring? Was it what you expected? What did you look for in a program to begin with? Would you recommend it to anyone else? Who were your favorite characters, that sort of thing. And then I'll judge you all ruthlessly. Better start cowering behind your sofas."

He grinned. "Then as a final treat," he finished, "I've got one last thing to show you, so don't run out. I'm sure all the alcohol and teenage flirtation can hold for another twenty minutes."
