After a week of doing nothing, Lee figured that his library shift counted as productive and that he could forgive himself for being so lazy.

Of course, he was being lazy while at the library so maybe that didn't quite count. But, nonetheless, he was there, book open and lazily reading it.

That's what Sundays were for, right? Being lazy.

Today was a very exciting day for the class, indeed, as today was the day that their eggs were going to hatch! The danger shop classroom was stocked to the teeth with anything at all that might need to be available, from things to feed the little creatures with to weapons just in case they do end up quite hostile to flame retardant cloaks and squeaky little chew toys!

"Good morning, class!" Minsc greeted them. "Please go and care for your egg until they hatch and be prepared for whatever may come out! I have no better idea than you, so today should be a very interesting class! Be prepared for anything, as such is the way with magical creatures!"

If he took a moment and thought about it, Cal might have considered this past weekend, taking care of Amber as a kitten, to be pretty weird.

Which is why he wasn't thinking about it.

Leaving her to her own devices in her own room (she was a big girl, she could handle it), Cal settled in with some coffee and started right in on sorting out the book for the day.

"Congratulations, you've made it all the way to week ten," Ghanima said dryly from her perch on the desk. "So far, many of our discussions seem to have focused on physical engagements of force, mostly because many of you are all familiar with tactics in a military sense."

"While I am as much a fan of armed combat as the next Fremen, however, it is it necessary to learn how to apply the tactical ideas you are learning outside a battlefield."

24. Humble words and increased preparations are signs that the enemy is about to advance... )
