Ronon was not pleased. Especially not with his TA. He stood in a Danger Shop-created gymnasium glaring at all the students as they filed in, daring them to say anything about the previous day.

"Yesterday was nothing. Today is dancing for your life," Ronon paused, expecting disbelief at the necessity of this task. "You'd be surprised. Pick a song, pick a partner, and keep it lively."

What? It was physical and educational.

"Don't forget to dress out."

Tyler watched the students filing in, arms crossed before him and a covered Styrofoam chest with a slight curl of steam rising from it resting on the lab table at the front of the class. When it seemed like everyone who was going to come was there, he started to talk.

"Morning. Today, we get the joy of dealing with housekeeping before my lecture. First, midterms are due in three weeks, so think about them, okay? You need to design and carry out an experiment, either during or before class on the 24th, then write a report on what you found. If you need ideas, there are books on the table with a slew of them. Or talk to me. I'm still in my office every Monday and I can only spend so much time online arguing about Supers. Group work is fine, but I'll expect it to be more complex than what one person could do, no signing your name to your buddy's work."

"Also, five of the 12 of you, I won't say who because you know who you are, skipped class last week. I assume you all have good stories. Talk to me after class if you want to get the handouts from last week, and I can do a makeup lab Monday if anyone's interested. And if you're gonna cut, don't do it the same week half the class does, it makes me feel unloved. Blah blah blah too many unexcused absences equal detention blah blah blah, and consider this your warning."

He drew a deep breath, lifting the loose-fitting lid off the chest and watching the steam rise. "All right. Now. Fun part. Dry ice. This is frozen carbon dioxide -- the same stuff that makes soda fizzy. Cool thing about dry ice, it doesn't really want to freeze on this planet, so if you force it to, it's continuously evaporating and turning into a gas." With gloved hands, he reached into the chest and brought out a kernel of the ice, then dropped it into a black plastic film can. A few seconds later, the lid of the canister flew off, narrowly missing the first row of chairs. Tyler smirked, then continued his lecture about the properties and uses of dry ice and the science behind it.

"For your lab segment today, I'm just going to let you play with this stuff." He started handing out one-pound chunks in small trays, placing them in front of each student alongside some other supplies they might want to use to test the ice. A light fog from the ice's evaporation filled the room. "Wear lab gloves unless a cold burn sounds like fun to you. Here is a handout with some ideas to get you started. I like the comet myself."

Once everyone had some ice, he waited at the back of the classroom. "Go to it. I'm around."

Turtle had been more than happy to volunteer to get help with setting up for the club fair all morning, with all the tables and posters and sign up clipboards and refreshments and subtle product placement from Turtle & Canary. There was even a great big board by the door boasting the Club Schedule.

It was a little sad to have to leave the mecca of organization she had created to attend Student Council, but she was back quickly after to get the club fair started. And scurry over to her own table.

[[ wait for the OCD or be crippled by a kick to the shins. Your choice. OCD IS UP! You are free from the threat of kicking for now. I hope I didn't forget anyone! ]]

[[ Each Most clubs will have two threads: a promotion table for interaction with the club head(s) and an OOC sign up sheet to join the club. A few clubs have an exception or two, and those exceptions will be pointed out in the thread. ]]

[[ ETA: Soooo, I made a little "oops" on the schedule, and there actually ARE no 3pm classes. So ignore those Xs. If it helps anyway, 1pm = Fourth Period, 2pm = Fifth Period, sorry about the mix up and any confusion! ]]

Buffy woke up randomly early for no reason, except maybe her body was punishing her for not going patrolling last night, so she came in with coffee and a bagel from JGOB just because she had the time. Which should take up, oh, fifteen minutes or so of her time if there wasn't a lot to do today.

"The events of the past don't always match up with what's written in history books. Someone I once knew said 'history is written by the victors' but that's not always true. Sometimes it's written by the people who couldn't comprehend what really happened, so they made it up or tried to reconcile what really happened with what makes sense in their head. Sometimes it's written by people who weren't there, so they made a good guess. This ties back to good old Arthur, but I'm afraid today won't be as simple as playing with swords and answering a question.

Welcome to the Roanoke Colony, 1588. This was the first serious attempt by England to establish a permanent settlement in the Virginia Colony, but the colonists who came here disappeared. Guesses were made about their untimely demise or abandonment of the colony, but they were largely wrong.

The historians of the time didn't say it was zombies, although that word, really, could have come up with something better, because they couldn't comprehend what a 'zombie' was. The reanimated dead aren't new, they just weren't embraced until around the time of Mary Shelley. There's a perfectly logical, scientific explanation for the living dead, a couple in fact, but I won't get into details. Why pass up a chance to explain it? Because we're in the middle of the colony and the undead colonists, ravaged by their condition and trying to survive by feeding and making more of themselves, are closing in on our scent. In this trunk," he said, kicking the wooden box at his feet, "you'll find whatever tools you think you need to survive. Say it out loud and the Danger Shop will have it appear when you open the trunk. Within reason. No weapons of mass destruction, if you please. I'd go with a political joke, but if you've heard one, you've heard them all. Go on then. You're a survivor of the Roanoke Colony. Survive. Try to get to the boats down by the shore. You wanted history in living colour? You're about to get it. Oh, and practical exam next week. Just a little thing. Sink or swim type scenario, but if you can get through this, you won't have a problem. Brush up on Japan, late 19th century. Or your people skills. They'll probably help more."

Zoe had so been hoping she wouldn't have to make any of these announcements this semester. She'd also been hoping that Grace would magically become potty trained while she was at it. That was probably more likely.

"Good afternoon, students. This is a reminder that the following students need to report for detention tomorrow morning with Professor Garrett:

Amber Atkins
Myn Donos
Claire Fisher
Peyton Sawyer
John Sheppard
Cal Stephanides
Eric van der Woodsen

Thank you, and for the rest of you, have a safe weekend."

[Apologies for the lateness!]
