When the class came into the Danger Shop, they found themselves in the centre of what looked like a well appointed room in a mansion.

"Welcome to Efferton Manor," John greeted them. "You've all been kidnapped. By trolls. The troll women want to use you -- at least those of the male persuasion -- as sex slaves. Having seen -- and smelled -- a male troll up close, I can't say I really blame them for looking elsewhere." He looked around the room, eyeing some of the male students a little more closely than others. "Just to make it absolutely clear, this is a bad thing.

"Your assignment today is to escape. You can use whatever is at your disposal - wiles, sneakiness, force if you think that will work. One thing I will give you for free -- you want to hurt a troll -- especially a male? You want to use iron."

John smiled at them. "Shall we begin?"

Jean-Paul was sitting behind the desk, his feet up on his desk, reading a magazine in French when the students arrived. "Your midterms are on your desk," he said without looking up. "Do not cheat."

Jean-Paul was not exactly the world's most enthusiastic teacher sometimes.

Right, like a little thing like being stuck as a sparkly ball of light is gonna stop Bridge from opening the library.

Which is why he asked Jen to come along to do the actual unlocking-the-doors part, since he can't exactly at the moment.

The library is open!

"Before the break, I was asked 'what to do if there are no reinforcements coming'. This was mostly the subject of last term's class, but for completion's take, that will be the topic of today's class-- or rather, how to deal in a situation where you have only yourself, your own resources, and your abilities."

Kerrigan's foot was tapping against the floor of the Danger Shop, and her C-10 was pointing helpfully down. "Yourself. That's all you'll have today. No special powers. No special equipment. Nothing but you, your wits, and a big damn suit of armor."

The environment warped, bringing with it a sparse forest, mosses cluttering the ground and trees climbing up against rock walls that weaved in and out. "What do you do when you're on your own? Be smart. Be honest with yourself-- what your chances are, what you can do. You find your own advantages, be they strategical cleverness, sheer unpredictability, or mental stamina. Use them. Distract your opponent. Set traps.. Attack them straight up front. I don't care; just do something, something you're good at, and do it well."

She quirked a grin at the class. "This, kids, is where you get to shoot at each other. Remember that a hit to the head freezes you-- getting hit in a limb disables that particular extremity. Don't be idiots. Sometimes it's tactically useful to take someone out in one shot. Sometimes you have to risk facing every bit. It's all on you."

Before she turned around, she added, "And don't let the Zerglings bite."

Harriet was sitting at the front of the class, looking through some papers, while she waited for the students. Once everyone arrived, she stood to address them. "Good morning, class. I'm Dean Jones. I'm sorry to have to tell you that Dr Wilson has had to leave the island, but we do wish him all the best. I'll be taking your class for the remainder of the semester, and I'll try and make the transition as smooth as possible.

I thought, for today, we might try something a little different. Conflict management and conflict resolution are of great value to everyone, but sometimes what seems to be an attempt to smooth over a conflict is no such thing.

So we're going to do a little exercise to look at when conflict resolution isn't. I want you to get into groups of three - choose one person to be the mediator, and the other two are to invent a conflict between them. The mediator is to attempt to inflame the conflict into something incredibly volatile, while giving the appearance of trying to smooth things over.

There are a number of people who excel at this, many of whom have popular TV shows in this country. Feel free to use them as your inspiration, but I do ask that you to refrain from excessive chair throwing."

[ooc: Yes, I'm thinking Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, baby mamas and my boyfriend's a 'cheating on me. Make your own groups, and you can work out who will be what either OOC or IG!
Please wait for OCD.
We have OCD.]

“Good morning everyone!” Yondaime grinned brightly, looking a wee bit on the tan side. “I hope you all had a good vacation, I know I did and I’m really looking forward to you all presenting your countries! There should be elements from every class that we have had to make at least a semi cohesive country and when you present your country please point out what you have and how it works for you. Questions will be asked once each person is done with their presentation, so everyone feel free to ask what you’d like to know.”

[Feel free to handwave the presentation if you want, but I’m really curious to hear what everyone came up with. XD Wait for OCD PLZ]
