Sam was on the lookout for any attacking coconuts as he went to open the library. Sure, they were probably gone by now, but he wasn't dropping his guard just yet.

"World War I was a global military conflict that took place mostly in Europe between 1914 and 1918. It left millions dead and re-shaped the modern world," began Daniel, pushing his glasses up.

"The Allied Powers, led by France, Russia, the British Empire, and later, Italy and the US, defeated the Central Powers: Austria-Hungary, the German Empire, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire.

"Much of the fighting in World War I took place along the Western Front, within a system of opposing manned trenches and fortifications (separated by an unoccupied space between the trenches called "no man's land") running from the North Sea to the border of Switzerland. On the Eastern Front, the vast eastern plains and limited rail network prevented a trench warfare stalemate from developing, although the scale of the conflict was just as large. Hostilities also occurred on and under the sea and — for the first time — from the air. More than nine million soldiers died on the various battlefields, and millions more civilians perished.

"Now, today I'd like for you to examine the role of women, using these works," he said, handing out two packets, one entitled Women on the Home Front in World War One and one called Women and the Military in World War One. "here's also a link of souces on the Imperial War Museum website that you can take a look at, if you wish."

"Mostly, what I want you to come away with is how World War I was a catalyst in women's rights and also to see that even before they were allowed to fight, just what a difference they made."

The classroom was unbarricaded today and there wasn't singing yet.  Aly sat on her desk as the students came in and watched them find their seats.

"Afternoon, all," she said with a bit of a smile once everyone had found their seats.  "The past couple weeks, we've talked about the larger issues of forming a revolution.  Why you'd do it, how you'd start to recruit people to your side, even," she grinned, "a practical demonstration."

"Today we're going to look a bit more closely at one of the most important parts of a rebellion - your people.  No revolution ever is run completely by one person no matter how good they are.  What I'd like for you do to today is determine what roles you think you would need to fill in starting a rebellion.  And if you like, who you would try to talk into taking those roles."

She paused, looking around to make sure people were following.  "For example, in the Copper Isles, the leaders of the rebellion ended up with titles of wise one, cunning one, strong one, warrior and the crow."  Aly rolled her eyes.  "Stupid names and the roles are fairly obvious, but there was a prophecy and this and that."  Aly smirked.  "It shouldn't be too surprising which title was mine."

"So if you have any questions, please ask, otherwise determine the roles you'd feel are necessary - and this can be for whichever technological or magic type of society you like.  Next week, we'll talk more about the roles and the organisation of your core members."

[OOC: So many apologies for less than stellar class.  I can't seem to find my brain, and I have much sickness so Aly pings may be slow.  Please wait for the OCD is up.]

Flynn sat at his desk, staring up at the ceiling.
He really needed to get out more.

The class shuffled in, and he looked down towards them.

"Today, kids... You're going to stand up in front of the class and tell us what you liked and disliked about whatever it was
you played with last week. Then briefly tell us what you would do to improve it."

He surveyed the class.

"Who wants to go first?"

There was yarn on the tables again. Lots of yarn and crocheting needles. There were also handy guides, and next to Emma on her desk? A box.

Once everyone had found a seat, Emma put her hand in the box and then held up a plain blue dildo. "Today, my dears, you will learn crocheting. You will learn the basics, and the aim will be to --" Her hand went back down into the box and came up with a green crocheted thing with teeth. "-- Make a dildo cozy. If you are uncertain about the shapes or number of loops you will need, I have a collection of dildos in this box which you may borrow."

She looked around serenely. "As you might know, we have a visit from the school board this week. Please treat any possible visitors to the class with respect and answer their questions."

ooc: Picture completely worksafe. Wait for OCD is up

ETA: Please go look at the MidTerm information!

ETA2: Feel free to dildo-mod all you like!

When the students arrived in the Danger Shop, Professor Harrington wasn't anywhere to be found. Instead, Thursday Next was waiting for them. "Hello," she greeted once everyone was gathered. "Professor Harrington was unable to make it today. I'm Thursday Next and I'll be your substitute. Today's topic is meant to be a tactics lab about the Age of Steam.

The Age of Steam led to steel ships powered by steam engines instead of the wooden boats and wind sails you would have covered before. Ramming became popular again, the torpedo was developed, land mines and dreadnoughts arrived and sailors finally caught on to the idea of camouflage. The 20th century brought about the introduction of submarines. If you need any further detail, Professor Harrington will be happy to answer your questions if you contact her, or there are books in the library on this topic.

Let's blow something up, shall we?

A steam-powered enemy ship is headed towards you. You can choose to be on a steam-powered ship of your own or defending a land fort. You have gun turrets with automatic cannons, torpedos and your ship at your disposal. Defend yourself and your people. You can team up if you'd like."

Abby was on the phone when the students entered the danger shop; arguing with someone about a Caf-Pow! delivery. "You're already one day late. I can't be held responsible for my actions if you don't get it here today. No, that's not a threat against you. I'm a high school teacher, it's not like I'm going to come after you or anything. It's just that I've accidentally killed the wrong person already because I didn't drink enough Caf-Pow!, I don't want that to happen agai-hello? Hello?"

Abby shook her head and slammed down the phone. "Stupid delivery men." Pointing to the stools in the lab, she stalked over to the whiteboard to start the lecture. "I'm not in the best of moods today so lets try getting through the lecture quickly so you can go do your crime scene work. Today we're talking about trace evidence. It's the itty bitty things that are found at crime scenes that you'll be responsible for collecting, cataloging and identifying. Trace evidence includes hairs, fibers, soils, botanical materials, residue from gunshot or explosives." Abby gave a handwavy lecture on using microscopes and lab equipment to test evidence. "Basically, you're going to be collecting everything and bringing it back to the lab. Most of it will be crap, but some will help you solve the crime and identify the killers."

Walking to the door of the lab, Abby walked through, motioning the students to stand with her around an outdoor pool. The water was drained from the majority of the pool, leaving a few dirty feet of water in the deep end and two bodies in the shallow end. "There was a party here last night, lots of drinking and dancing and two deaths. Some say the men just had too much drink, some say they committed suicide. It's your job to gather as much trace evidence as you can and use it to discover what happened."

Pointing to a stack of rubber waders, Abby stood back to let the students put them on and climb down into the pool. "This is Aziraphale and not-Wilson." Abby glared a little at Neil and shook her head. "Apparently when I've not had enough caffeine, people are a little fuzzy to me. In my defense, he looks very similar. Whatever. Neil deserves to have his murder avenged as well. Remember to get the trace evidence from the water in the pool and the bodies. Go for it."

The bell rang, and Mr. Noblet was not there.
A minute passed, and Mr. Noblet was not there.
Another passed, and still, there was no Mr. Noblet to be seen.
The time ticked by, until one young student saw her opportunity.

And pounced. )

[OOC: There shall be an OCD, oh such an OCD there shall be…
...and here it is! It's alive!]
