Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was thankfully behaving, so it was fairly warm outside as everything was set up for the picnic. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP, HAVE AT IT. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

He wasn't entirely certain if it was spelled right, but that was all right, because he was fairly certain he wasn't pronouncing it right, either.

So he stood there. With his sign. Which was mostly indecipherable.

Karal was just a little bit excited about being a big brother. To the point where Altra was rolling his eyes from his spot by Karal's feet.

He had a name tag - with his name on it, obviously - stuck to the front of his robes, and was looking eagerly at each person he saw.

Though he had no idea what someone named Liir would look like.

Ron was there with big giant name tag and wearing his nerdy class robes since he didn't have anything else clean to wear.

Well if he were in Hogwarts they wouldn't be nerdy but you get the general idea.

Makoto had no idea what to expect from a name like Zuko. He wandered around, dressed as a girl, looking for his elder sibling.

Jen whose actual arrival post will go up when I get to work was thinking about some television show that had been a decade or two old by the time she'd watched it in reruns in 2001, about cops undercover at a high school; Wes's commentary on the fashions of the time had been hysterical.

So she had to smile, a bit ruefully, as she put her nametag on where her Time Force badge -- stowed safely in an inside pocket on her jumpsuit -- should normally go, and hung back by a table, observing.

If the table happened to have a good assortment of cookies on it, that was no coincidence. She hadn't had a cookie since 2001.

Naminé wasn't sure whether it was "Dōjima" or "Yurika" that was her little sibling's given name, or in fact whether she had a little sister or little brother. So she had carefully written "Dōjima Yurika" on a small sign and was holding it with her, wishing she could sit under a tree and sketch instead.

(Hooray, sib who also has an accent in her name! We shall take over the world with our mad character map skills!)

"A sibling? A ROOMMATE?!? You have got to be kidding me." Dōjima wrinkled her nose and flopped down in a chair to 'fix' her nametag by crossing out 'Yurika' and drawing a smiley face under 'Dōjima'.

Aravis really could hardly believe she was supposed to really affix that damn...sticky bit of paper with her name on it to her, but she did, and looked around for someone who looked like his name might be Harry.

It was kind of amusing, really, how a guy who had no problem standing out of a crowd would be so worried that his new little sibling wouldn't see sign with "Brooke" written on it as he held it up and looked around.

Triela looked down at the piece of paper in her hand and nodded. At least "Sora" was short, easy to remember, and she hoped hard to mispronounce. It was also dreadfully uninformative: boy or girl? Cultural background? She shrugged. She'd find out eventually.

Alex, with her nametag carefully adorned on her shirt, looked around for someone with the name 'Hoshi'. It sounded like a girl's name to her, so that's what she was keeping an eye out for.

Ferris wasn't terribly interested in meeting his own sibling. He had one of those. It often didn't end well. He was, however, looking at everyone else's siblings and enjoying the free food.
