Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was thankfully behaving, so it was fairly warm outside as everything was set up for the picnic. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[~~WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE.~~ OCD IS UP, HAVE AT IT. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

"What's a Vesper?" she asked, wondering how stupid and/or crazy this man might be.

Blame the jet-lag, and nothing else, really, for it taking so long, but Bond started to notice the differences, her hair was wavier, she was shorter, and her freckles...no, the freckles were the same.

Bond instantly let go of the girl's, and he could see now that she really was a girl, wrists. "Terribly sorry," he said, features dropping into a mask of smooth charm. "I'm afraid I mistook you for someone else."

"No, really?" she asked, thoroughly irritated and taking a generous step away from him. "I'll thank you not to grab me or anyone else like that again, sir."

Oh, and the hint of an accent too, even if the tone was exactly the same.

"I'll ensure it won't happen again," he said smoothly, as if he'd only trod on her toe. "Miss...?"

"Lady. Aravis. Lady Aravis," she said coolly. It was so nice to have a title to throw at annoying people.

That was alright, Bond had a title of his own to throw around, even if it wasn't quite a peerage. "Commander James Bond, formerly of Her Majesty's Navy," he responded just as coolly, not breaking eye contact.

"How nice for you," she said with a tight smile. "I'm sure that whichever queen you work for would be pleased to know that you've taken to grabbing random ladies in public. Certainly a quality bred in all branches of your military, I'm sure."

"You'd be surprised," Bond said blandly. "And I hardly imagine you're a random lady at all."

"Hardly. But I don't know you and I don't take kindly to your attitude," she replied smoothly.

And this was really doing nothing but enforce the resemblance.

"I find most ladies come to find my attitude most enjoyable once they know me."

"Then I doubt you find yourself in the company of many ladies, sir," she replied.

"A true gentleman never kisses and tells, so I'm afraid you'll have to live without knowing."

Of course, it's not like he ever claimed that particular title.

Aravis wrinkled her nose. "A true gentleman doesn't allude to such things," she sniffed.

As though she was one to talk.

Bond was all too innocent as he asked. "What makes you think I was alluding to anything?"

"You were not really very subtle," she pointed out.

"Purely a figure of speech, I assure you." Some part of Bond was well-aware he was falling far too easily back into habits of banter and flirtation, but it was currently a very small one.

"Yes, well, I'll thank you to remember your manners and a sense of propriety," she said. Possibly a bit hypocritically, but she was cranky, and she didn't need Seely hearing about this and doing something stupid.

"But where's the fun in that?"

"The fun is in me not kneeing you in the groin and telling anyone that a man twice my age made overtures and accosted me," she said sweetly.

"You do have a point there, even if I didn't actually make overtures."

"It doesn't matter whether you did. The intent was there. And I'm spoken for, your rudeness and oldness aside."

"Don't worry," Bond said smoothly, his eyes making just the barest flicker down towards her chest. "I prefer my fruit more ripe anyway."

Aravis caught it, crossing her arms immediately.

"I'm sixteen!" she said defensively.

"I believe that was my point."

"I'm leaving now," she told him, and cursed the fact that she wasn't allowed to have her blades. Insufferable man.
