Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was thankfully behaving, so it was fairly warm outside as everything was set up for the picnic. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[~~WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE.~~ OCD IS UP, HAVE AT IT. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

Having gotten ahold of his class schedule between leaving Peter's room and arriving at the picnic, Ronan had blanched slightly at seeing the listing for the law class that he didn't remember signing up for -- or, more specifically, at who was teaching it.

Of course, he rationalised, Peter would have mentioned it if it were his Nathan, right?~~Because he wasn't distracted at all by kisses.~~ Clearly, the only reasonable answer was that this teacher was either an alternate Nathan Petrelli, or someone else who just happened to have the same name. Which meant that Ronan should find out which, so that he could warn him about the alternate universe brother thing, right?

"Hi," Ronan said, walking up, hand out for shaking. "Are you Professor Petrelli?"

"Mr. Petrelli is fine," Nathan said. He shook the kid's hand in return. "Pleasure to meet you."

"And you," Ronan replied. "I'm Ronan Nolan, I'm in your class this semester. I must say, I'm rather looking forward to it." Even if he hadn't known about it ten minutes ago. "... Has anyone mentioned how Fandom can be... peculiar?"

"I've heard a bit," Nathan said. He took note of the name. "Ronan Nolan, you said?"

Ronan blinked. "... Yes?"

It couldn't be. Surely Peter would have mentioned.

"Don't suppose there's two of you by that name?" Nathan asked, all friendly-like.

Ronan blanched just slightly. "... Not at Fandom, sir, at least not that I'm aware. I, uh. I take it you are Peter's brother, then? I thought you might be from an alternate timeline! He didn't war- tell me that you were coming!"

And this would be Nathan's sweetest, most sharklike smile. "Maybe he was hoping to do a proper introduction."

Ronan, for all his momentary fluster, recovered swiftly. "I apologise, sir," he said, returning the smile, if a bit nervously. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you."

"The same," Nathan said, his expression not changing an iota. "Peter's told me so much about you."

Though not nearly enough in Nathan's opinion.

"All good things, I hope," Ronan said, half-seriously. "He's mentioned you, as well. I, uh, want to apologise for getting him back into the city, over the break. I hadn't realised that he didn't tell you he was leaving."

"So that wasn't something you discussed with him," Nathan said, as polite as ever.

Ronan raised his eyebrow. "If you're asking if I convinced Peter that it would be a great idea to run out on you, then, no, I did no such thing. I did offer an opportunity for him to get away from a social engagement that he appeared to be dreading, and, yes, wanted to spend time with my boyfriend. I didn't realise that either of these was a crime."

"Never said you did," Nathan replied, since he knew damn well Peter didn't need any help convincing himself to do something stupid. "Just wanted to make sure you knew that Peter is very special to his family. We don't like it when he goes off the grid. Now that you know, I can rest easier knowing you'll be helping to make sure it doesn't happen again."

Nathan wasn't offering this as a choice.

"I'll make every effort," Ronan replied, "to make sure that you know everything necessary about where Peter's going to be, should he and I be going off the island."

Ronan felt it perhaps best to leave unspoken who it was that's going to define 'everything necessary'.

"Good," Nathan said. "Because as his boyfriend I know you want what's best for him."

Mostly Nathan said that to make it clear that he had heard the b-word in there, thank you.

"Yes, I absolutely want what's best for Peter," Ronan replied. "Well, it has been a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Petrelli, but if you don't mind I think I may go and meet some of the new students. I look forward to our first class together."

"Me too," Nathan said, sweetly.
