Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was thankfully behaving, so it was fairly warm outside as everything was set up for the picnic. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP, HAVE AT IT. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

Kabuto had a nametag, carefully written in neat, precise handwriting. And surprisingly not in his own language. He saw the name he was looking for, and headed over to Seregil. "We really don't look anything alike," he commented, smiling.

Seregil smiled back. "Well, my father did do a fair amount of wandering in his youth, so one never knows," he replied.

"And I never knew my real parents," Kabuto added, pushing up his glasses. "If you discount the alternate realities, it's an entirely plausible theory."

"I've heard much stranger," Seregil admitted. "There was this one man I met who was guarding a caravan. Swore up and down that his great grandfather was a sheep."

"It could be done," Kabuto replied seriously. "It wouldn't be very pretty, but it could be done with the right gene manipulation..." he paused for a moment, as if giving it serious thought.

"The question would be why would you want to?" Not that Seregil understood 'gene manipulation' but figured it was a type of magic he didn't know.

"Just to see how it worked." Kabuto shrugged. "It's fun to take things apart and then put them back together in different ways." Nevermind that he was talking about people. "In any case, you must be Seregil. I'm Kabuto Yakushi." He bowed slightly, purposely flipping his name to the standard used here.

"Seregil i Korit Solun Meringill Bokhersa," Seregil replied, mimicking the bow. "Seregil's good enough though. So you're to be my native guide?"

"I wouldn't call myself 'native', exactly," Kabuto replied cheerfully. "Since I come some an alternate universe entirely, I'm not overly familiar with this world outside of the school. I can, however, help you to find your way around the Fandom island."

"That's always a good place to start," Seregil said. "From what I've seen so far, this dimension is very different than my home one."

"What sort of place are you from?" Kabuto asked, genuinely interested. Of course, he was interested for all the wrong reasons.

"I've been living in Rhiminee in Skala," Seregil said.

"And I've been living in the Hidden Village of Sound in the Rice Country," Kabuto replied. "Which probably makes about as much sense to you as what you said does to me."

"Distant lands with unfamiliar names," Seregil agreed.

Kabuto glanced up at the sky, then looked back at Seregil. "Did you have any initial questions about anything?"

[identity profile] therhimineecat.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't think I've been here long enough to know what I don't know," Seregil admitted wryly.

"Well, I'm probably going to be heading back to the dorms," Kabuto explained. "If you need anything, I'm in room 505. I don't have a roommate, so feel free to come by if there's ever a time you need to."

"Really? That's convenient. I've been assigned 506."

"That is convenient," Kabuto agreed. "I'll try to leave my door open more often. Definitely let me know if there's anything I can help you with, all right?" He smiled, pushing his glasses up again.

Seregil nodded. "I will do that."

"It was a pleasure to meet you, Seregil i Korit Solun Meringill Bokhersa," Kabuto said, only smirking slightly as he drew a smoke ball from the pouch at his waist and used to seemingly vanish.
