Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was thankfully behaving, so it was fairly warm outside as everything was set up for the picnic. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[~~WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE.~~ OCD IS UP, HAVE AT IT. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

"You'd probably like it," Lee told her. "The ship, not the drink. You'd probably like the drink too, though. Big ship, easy to get lost in. And lots of people for you to glare at."

"Sounds like heaven," she retorted, found a straw with her fingertips, and threw it in his general direction.

Not quite the intended effect.

This wasn't supposed to bother her as much, dammit. She'd made her calls. "What classes are you taking? 'Cause I think I have some teachers to warn."

"Did you just throw a straw at me?" Lee asked, frowning at her and then the straw. "Because, ow, that hurts my heart. I'm taking Driver's Ed and Lawyering Up. I'm going to learn to drive and learn to talk this semester."

"I have to trade up from needles occasionally," Kerrigan shot back, dryly. "Try not to crash your car. It would break my own heart to pieces."

She'd already warned the lawyer. Politician. Whatever the hell he was.

"Hey, I fly ships, I think I can manage a car," he told her. "Easily."

Kerrigan held up a finger. "Famous last words, Adama."

"Can you drive?" Lee asked curiously. "A car."

"Yes, Adama," Kerrigan said, slowly, "I can drive a car. And a bike. The right way. By the end of it, you'll probably drive like someone's grandma."

"I don't need a car, I can fly," Lee said stupidly. "Flying is better than driving."

"Right up until you're stranded on the ground," Kerrigan countered, dryly. "Then you're dead."

"Feet," Lee countered. "Run. That's what they're there for."

That earned a truly unimpressed look. "Feet run out."

"Cars do too," he shot back.

"Not as quickly or as close," she pointed out.

"Still happens," Lee pointed out because he was kind of right and he wanted her to know that.

"It still happens but it's better than walking," Kerrigan acquiesced, rolling her eyes.

"I could let the teacher know that you'll be helping me out on the side if you want," he teased. "Extra help for your favorite student."

"Forget about that," Kerrigan snorted. "Find me a motorbike and I'll teach you real driving."

She missed Vulture bikes, sometimes.

"They faster than cars?" Lee asked.

"And more maneuverable."

Kerrigan felt strongly about bikes.

"Hm." Sounded like fun at least. "Why don't you have one here?"

"Two words, kid," she said, lifting her fingers in demonstration, "Teacher's. Salary."

"They're not paying you guys the big bucks?" Lee asked, smirking.

"They should get me hazard pay to deal with you," she retorted.

"You say the sweetest things, Lieutenant," Lee teased. "It just makes my heart soar."
