Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was thankfully behaving, so it was fairly warm outside as everything was set up for the picnic. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP, HAVE AT IT. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

"Lieutenant, you look bored," Lee said, wandering over. "Should I entertain you?"

"Adama."

Yeah, it'd been two weeks-- horrible, horrible weeks-- since Kerrigan last got to say anything with quite that intonation. "I don't know. How well do you run laps?"

She categorically denied being somewhat pleased to see him after all of that, even in the back of her own mind.

"Pretty damn good, if I don't say so myself," he said with a nod. "I'm in shape, if I'm anything. Used to run for fun back home. Me running would entertain you?"

"Yes," she responded, dryly. "It would. Run me some laps to celebrate me not having to deal with you this term." She was totally going to miss him.

"Oh, Lieutenant," Lee said, tapping his chest dramatically, "that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me. Do you really think that, just because I'm not in your class, I'm going to visit you?"

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"I was kind of hoping in that general direction," Kerrigan totally lied, eyeing him coolly. "Am I going to have to stick you to any more walls?"

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're not allowed to do that unless I do something to you first," Lee retorted, shaking his head. "And since my visits would just be to have the pleasure of your company, you'd get in trouble if you stuck me to walls."

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's you, Adama," she snapped right back, "I'm sure you'll come up with something appropriately hare-brained soon enough."

"You have such confidence in me," he countered, frowning. "I don't get any benefit of the doubt? I might have mellowed over the break."

"You didn't mellow up against a wall, you didn't mellow over the break." She cocked her head at him. "How was your break, Adama?"

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Quiet," he said and shrugged. "I stayed here, slept a lot. Wrote the family, worked in the library. Pretty boring for the most part. It gets cold here."

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not as cold as some places," she said dismissively. "Unless you were afraid of losing a couple of bodyparts."

Re: Meet Your Teachers (Spring 2008)

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"I need most of my bodyparts," he said dryly. "And I like them. Why, gotta rec for a good vacation spot?"

"Just where not to go," Kerrigan snorted.

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"How was your break?" Lee asked. "Anything exciting happen?"

Re: Meet Your Teachers (Spring 2008)

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Just a little roundtrip home," Kerrigan replied, glancing off for a minute before snapping her eyes back to Lee. "Nothing special."

Re: Meet Your Teachers (Spring 2008)

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm sure that's how I would've felt if I'd have gone home," Lee said. "My father mentioned you in my last letter. Nothing special though. Just mentioned your name."

Re: Meet Your Teachers (Spring 2008)

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Glad to hear I left such an impression on your father," she snorted, and part of her wished for something to throw at Lee. Or maybe to glare at him. Just for old time's sake.

Re: Meet Your Teachers (Spring 2008)

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, a wonderful impression, to be sure," he said, nodding exaggeratedly. Lee found himself idly wondering about her trip home and if, maybe, she was just having boyfriend trouble. That also seemed to put women in bad moods. "He'd invite you for a drink if you were on his ship."

Re: Meet Your Teachers (Spring 2008)

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Tell him 'thanks'." Oh, and look, there was the glare. Kerrigan felt much better, now. Boyfriend trouble. Crap.

Now she felt worse.

"I could probably use the drink. If I was on his ship."

Re: Meet Your Teachers (Spring 2008)

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"You'd probably like it," Lee told her. "The ship, not the drink. You'd probably like the drink too, though. Big ship, easy to get lost in. And lots of people for you to glare at."

Re: Meet Your Teachers (Spring 2008)

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sounds like heaven," she retorted, found a straw with her fingertips, and threw it in his general direction.

Not quite the intended effect.

This wasn't supposed to bother her as much, dammit. She'd made her calls. "What classes are you taking? 'Cause I think I have some teachers to warn."

Re: Meet Your Teachers (Spring 2008)

[identity profile] stupid-toasters.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Did you just throw a straw at me?" Lee asked, frowning at her and then the straw. "Because, ow, that hurts my heart. I'm taking Driver's Ed and Lawyering Up. I'm going to learn to drive and learn to talk this semester."

[identity profile] on-her-korhal.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"I have to trade up from needles occasionally," Kerrigan shot back, dryly. "Try not to crash your car. It would break my own heart to pieces."

She'd already warned the lawyer. Politician. Whatever the hell he was.

"Hey, I fly ships, I think I can manage a car," he told her. "Easily."
