Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was thankfully behaving, so it was fairly warm outside as everything was set up for the picnic. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP, HAVE AT IT. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

...where had he seen...?

This was going to bug Chad all day now. He frowned thoughtfully at the new girl that might not be new because she didn't look new for a moment. "It's a good thing," he assured her, with a nod, and a slight grunt. "I...think. Uhhh...anyway. I'm Chad; I'm your big sibling. If you have any questions or need any help, I'm the one you go to."

Lucky her.

"Perfect. So, Chad- great name, by the way- when's the first party?" It was a new semester, there had to be a party.

"It's, uh, actually a nickname," Chad said, tilting his head and trying to decide if he should bother explaining. He got too distract, though, by just trying to figure out just where the hell he'd seen her before. She looked so familiar. "An' I dunno. S'good question. Probably just go to any of the common room tonight, an' it'll turn into a party, 'cause everyone'll be all social 'cause of all the new kids." Pause. "And stuff."

She considered this. "Hm. Casual spontaneous get-together, sounds good to me," said Brooke. "Okay, now that that's settled, tell me about yourself, Chad." Priorities and all.

"Not a lot to say," Chad said, shrugging slightly. "Been goin' here for a little over a year now; pretty much kinda my home now. I'm, uh, a musician. Probably will get my guitar out soon and a play bit. Always do that on newbie days. And I have a cat."

His head tilted. That was one of his longest biographies yet. "How about you? Tell me about you, Brooke."

Like where the hell he'd seen her before, because it was still bugging him.

"That's plenty to say," Brooke smiled. "So, I'm Brooke, and I'm from North Carolina, and my parents just moved to Virginia and I think my New Year's resolution has to be to make the best of it. Oh, and I'm a cheerleader."

"Really?" Chad asked. "So am I."

No, he didn't imagine that the statement could be in the least bit unbelievable.

"You gonna try out, then?"
gobrookeyourself: (cheer!)

"Oh, perfect. I knew I had a good big sib, now I know," she said. "Yeah. It'll be weird, though, I haven't had to try out since freshman year. I was the captain at my old school."

If anyone looked closely, they'd see that Chad had the teeniest bit of a warm smile on his face for being called a good big sib. He nodded, though. "Should be a shoe-in, then, right? Try-out'll be a breeze."

Brooke crossed her fingers. "And I know there'll be one friendly face there, too. Plus!"

"You'll definitely have my vote," Chad assured her. Unless she sucked.

Well, probably even if she did suck. He gave her a thumbs up of assurance.

Brooke smiled. She knew she liked him. "Thanks, big brother," she said. "So. I'm going to check out the happenings around here, but the first question I have, you will be getting a call from me."

Chad nodded. "Sounds good. Good meetin' you, Brooke. Welcome to the family."
