Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was thankfully behaving, so it was fairly warm outside as everything was set up for the picnic. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[~~WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE.~~ OCD IS UP, HAVE AT IT. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

Johnny stuck a name tag on and lazily looked around.

He thought Reno was a pretty cool sounding name and held up a sign with the dude's name on it.

Fresh off the chopper, tired, and a little on the cranky side, Reno cast unimpressed eyes across the crowd.

Oh. Hey. That sign had his name on it. Better check that out, hm?

"Yo." He strode over to the boy holding his name in the air like some kind of 'Loveless' billboard. "'That for me? Unless there's some other Reno about."

"It's for you," Johnny replied, tossing the sign once his fake bro was found. "Johnny Storm," just like his name tag read. He held out his hand to the other boy. "Pleasure to meet you."

"Just Reno," came the reply as the redhead eyed the hand offered to him for a moment before finally giving a shrug of his shoulders and accepting the handshake. "Here for high school, yo. Good old high school."

If his tone suggested that he was not in the least looking forward to sticking around this island, that was painfully correct.

Hooray. High school.

Johnny caught the tone. Reno wouldn't be the only one with such an attitude.

"This isn't just any high school, bro. But you'll find that out soon enough. Where you from?"

"Edge." No sense saying that he was from Midgar. Midgar was rubble. He gave a shrug of his shoulders and jammed his hands into his pockets. "Tell me this place has booze, at least."

Reno had his priorities.

"Edge... niiice." he smirked. "Yeah, there's booze. Place called Carita's doesn't ID. It's cool if you don't mind the zombie band. The Devil's Nest is another bar in town. Dude, they card."

"Zombies playin' music wouldn't be the most strange thing I've seen, yo." Reno shook his head, clearly unimpressed. "People still card in this place? What a waste. Better business if they don't worry about who's drinkin' there. I'll take my chances with the zombies, then."

Johnny smirked. "How do you feel about boykissy and glitter?" What? He could try to break brain if he wanted. This was his fake bro; it was allowed.

"If any boy tries to get close to me with his lips, I'll rip his freakin' tongue out," Reno replied, taking a step backward. "Don't tell me you're into that sorta thing. Do not."

"Me? Hell no," he lied. "I have a girlfriend. But you should know, you get touched by glitter around here and strange things happen. Boys just come together." Not dirty.

At that, Reno relaxed. A little.

"What, glitter does that? This place is already messed up, yo."

It wasn't the zombies that convinced him. It was the glitter. Go figure.

"It can and it does. Happened to me last summer when I first arrived. I'm as straight as they come, dude, yet there I was, getting covered in glitter and making out with a guy. Next day I wanted to die." Kind of.

"This is me, makin' a mental note to bust in the teeth of any guy I see comin' near me with glitter."

Johnny chuckled. "You didn't sign up for Art did you?"

"No. Not my sorta thing." He allowed himself a bit of a smirk. "Especially now that I know that glitter comes with adverse side effects, yo."

"Dude, not the only thing with adverse side effects around here," he said. "But whatever, you'll find out soon enough or we can talk about the oddity of Fandom over a beer at Caritas. I'm in 217 and also listed in the directory."

He was a damn good big bro, yo.

"Where you rooming?"

"Room 501. Always available for a beer." If the buddy system came with drinks, Reno wasn't entirely opposed to it. "Willin' to miss classes for drinking. I have my priorities, after all."

"Yeah, uh," Johnny arched a brow. "Not a good idea to miss classes here, Reno. Teachers aren't above handing out detention."

"Detention? Oh no. I'm shakin' in my boots." Reno? Was so very not concerned. "Been handed worse punishments than an afternoon writing lines, Johnny."

He couldn't help but laugh at this guy's attitude. "Yeah, I don't remember one detention where I've just had to write lines. But who am I to spoil it for you? You seem like a level-headed guy, you'll figure it out soon enough."

Reno continued to smirk as he crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"Somehow I doubt that this is the sorta fine institution that hands out the death sentence for skippin' out," he mused. "But I'm sure I'll get my fair share of detentions, yo. I'll find out eventually."

"Yeah, no death sentences here," he shook his head. "So you're one of those rebel types?"

"There's a type? Didn't know I had to fit under a category." Reno was somewhat amused at the thought. "I'm here for work, you could say. Not thrilled to be sent to high school. But when the boss says jump, you jump as high as you can, yo."

Usually.

Johnny shrugged, "Seems every school's got 'em," and he wasn't about to admit to being a handful at his last school. "So... you're how old?"
