Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was thankfully behaving, so it was fairly warm outside as everything was set up for the picnic. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP, HAVE AT IT. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

"Simulated," Kerrigan acquiesced, cocking her head at the girl. "But I insist all my students better damn well treat it like it's real. No one has that luxury in the field."

"You sound like Jean," Triela suggested. "He always insists that training be harder than real ops and that it be treated as absolutely real." She doesn't disapprove of this... exactly.

"Sounds like a smart guy. It's important," Kerrigan continued, "There's no telling what's out there and you've got to be prepared."

"Definitely sound like Jean," Triela laughed. "Though I do hope you don't employ the same disciplinary techniques," she frowned, thinking of all the times Rico had come back from a training session with a split lip.

"The Dean wouldn't let me if I tried," Kerrigan snorted. "Don't worry."

The woman had already given her trouble over pinning some boys to a wall; even if she wanted to, actually hurting someone wasn't going to be in the cards.

Triela thought about this. "Interesting," she mused. "Does that mean that teachers don't have completely free rein with their students?" That was an odd concept.

"No," Kerrigan said. Out loud.

Unfortunately, she added. Not so much out loud.

"That would be unethical," she added. Very much out loud.

"Huh," Triela shrugged. "We do things differently back home. Handlers have full control over the education of their charges." Including deciding how much brainwashing to employ.

Kerrigan's eyes narrowed for a moment, but she made no mention of it. "Welcome to Fandom," she said, instead. "Where 'ethical' is front of the line."

"Oh, it's not that bad most of the time. Except for Jean, most of the handlers try to be all big-brother-y. Especially since Lauro. No one wants a repeat of that incident." Getting your head blown off by your charge makes for really bad performance reviews.

"Welcome all the same," Kerrigan shrugged one shoulder. "It's a thing."

She made a mental note to keep an eye on the girl. Just in case.

"Thanks," Triela nodded. "I guess I'll see you in class."
