Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
The weather was thankfully behaving, so it was fairly warm outside as everything was set up for the picnic. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.
[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP, HAVE AT IT. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

Trouble with being convinced to get here? Rao, yes.
"No, I actually found it pretty easily," she said, nodding. She probably kept her hand in his for a moment too long before letting go. "Thanks."
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling (Spring 2008)
"Good, that's good," he said. "Well, uh, if you have any questions, I can answer them. My brother and I both go here, and my dad's a teacher, and I'm almost very soon to be related to the principal, so in my biased opinion, you're in good hands."
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling (Spring 2008)
This guy, he was...sort of powerful here. At the school.
"Well, I've already met my roommate, Turtle, and that was...interesting. She mentioned something about anthromorphic turtles." Kara blinked for a moment. "This isn't the world's most normal school, is it?"
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling (Spring 2008)
When she mentioned the weirdness, he couldn't help but snicker. "Um. Yeah, things are kind of weird around here. You might have to stay open-minded about what people are capable of."
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling (Spring 2008)
She considered that for a moment. "Oh, trust me," Kara said, her vivid blue eyes glittering with interest at what Sam had just said. "I've got one hell of an open mind." She grinned and asked, "How did you adjust to the weirdness? And...what other sorts of weirdness are there here?"

Yes, because that's what she's going to tell him.
Instead, Kara merely chuckled. "I come from this incredibly small town where we've got a new freak every single week." She shrugged. "We've got an abundance of, umm, meteor rocks there, and they tend to have an odd effect on a lot of the town's inhabitants."

"There's some," he finally admitted. "Not every week, but often enough to keep things from being too normal."

It's not a naive thing. She just...does.
"Let's hope I like it as much as you do," she said. "Are there any general rules I need to know? When we can or can't go in to town or if there's a curfew that I need to know about or anything?"

Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling (Spring 2008)
She wasn't really planning on causing any trouble.
Unless trouble found her, of course.
She gave Sam her brightest, prettiest smile.
"I'm pretty sure you, you know, volunteered and stuff to be a big brother to someone, but I really appreciate all the help, Sam. I'd, you know, like to treat you to coffee sometime. Or dinner. In a non-datey sort of way."
It's not that she didn't think he was cute, it's just that she was still new and she wanted friends first. Plus, cute guys? Usually had girlfriends attached.
