Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was thankfully behaving, so it was fairly warm outside as everything was set up for the picnic. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP, HAVE AT IT. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

"It'll be empty," he said more honestly. "Though I've been told there's work available outside the school. I'll probably get a job."

It would be good for him, after all. All this structure, all this discipline. He could become someone, perhaps. Someone with a days work and a home and order. He just had to work for it, right?

"Oh, a job." She'd not even thought of that. Her job was at home, back in England. Anything she did here seemed trivial by comparison. "I suppose I'll have to see how my studies go, before trying to take on anything of that sort. Don't want to be dragged home for poor marks or anything."

Though, really, that did have its appeal. She could be doing much more important things there.

"I'm stupid and not worth the trouble, so I probably won't make friends," he said, matter of factly. "I should be able to balance them both if I'm careful."

And that was a bit concerning, right there. "You're not stupid," she said, frowning.

Green green eyes looked back at her skeptically.

"I've heard much to the contrary. And it's not really anything interesting to discuss."

The Witch had discussed it often.

"I've met my share of idiots," she said, arching an eyebrow. "And unless you prove differently than you have in the last few minutes, I'll not count you amongst their company."

"Count or miscount me as you like."

He wouldn't argue with her. He didn't particularly like being stupid, after all, and while he wouldn't acknowledge the compliment as truth, he would at least appreciate it for what it was worth.

"Should we head for the room or stay here? I personally would like to gather some food since I don't know when we'll get more."

She nodded. "I thought I might have a look around, see what the company's like," she said. "I'm sure I'll see you at the room later?"

He nodded.

"As you like."

He decided to look around and see what he might be dealing with. He wasn't much for talking, but he enjoyed listening.
