Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was thankfully behaving, so it was fairly warm outside as everything was set up for the picnic. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP, HAVE AT IT. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

Lee would miss Harry and his mystical stick.

Okay, no, he wouldn't and this Ferris person, besides having a weird name, had to be better than Harry.

Ferris found that the best approach to finding someone was a direct approach. "Lee?" he called. "Lee Adama? Has anyone seen Lee?"

Anathema, Anathema... Ino was pretty sure she'd met Anathema before. But had she liked her? Ino couldn't remember.

Alex was a boy's name, right? Makoto was mildly hopeful as he smoothed the front of his dress down and looked around for his roommate. A boy would definitely be better than a girl - even if he was currently pretending to be one.

Spotting the name tag, Alex made her way over. Hey, she wasn't used to sharing her room, but maybe this would be okay.

"Hi," she smiled, figuring being polite would work. First impressions and all. "Looks like we're going to be roommates."

Coraline walked around the outside of the picnic, looking at everyone and everything, and then she examined each table and eventually found the list.

Lucas Scott. She had not expected to have a roommate. She had especially not expected to have a roommate who was a boy. The mice couldn't have mentioned that?, she thought, while she made sure her name tag was clearly visible.

Still, she had wanted excitement and adventure and interesting, and it was certainly bound to be interesting sharing a room with a boy.

Lucas had been walking around the picnic, reading nametags. When he saw Coraline's, he was a little surprised by the, well, small girl.

"Uh, Caroline?" he asked, guessing at the pronunciation.

Another roommate. Swell. Anemone sighed and added another doodle to her sign. Thankfully she hadn't completely taken over the room, so it had been pretty easy to pull her things back over to her side.

She was going to miss using the extra bed as an art-nook, though.

Romeo tapped his foot as he waited for Teyla. Wasn't that a girl's name? He wasn't sure if it would be better if it was and she was pretty, or if she was not.

[identity profile] athosborn.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
When Teyla had been told that she'd be given a room in the dorm, she wasn't expecting to get a roommate, especially not one who sounded like a boy. She glanced around, wondering if perhaps there had been a misprint on the sheet.

Evey peered at the list, wondering how to pronounce her new roommate's name. She'd not had one of those since the camp, really, so it would take a bit of time to remember how to share her space. Not that she took so much now.

"It's Liir," he said. From behind her. Not too close, but he had good eyes and she was holding it out and looking at it so it wasn't exactly too hard to see.

Max was still feeling a little overwhelmed by everything, but she was keeping her eyes open, looking for the roommate she had been told she would have.

Andros had handwavily learnt that he was getting a new roommate so he had gone down to the Welcome Picnic to meet them. He started looking around to see if he could find his new roommate.

Jennifer? What kind of a name was Jennifer? Boooooring. Oh well, at least she knew to look for a girl.

Still disgruntled about having a roommate, Dōjima wandered around the grounds glancing at name tags regardless of gender. Hey, a girl needs to know who the cute boys are!

Re: Meet Your Roommate (Spring 2008)

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Dōjima might notice someone wearing a nametag with just that particular boring name on it, standing by a table and trying to look surreptitious about the fact that she was slowly, but steadily, eating a lot of cookies . . .

Turtle had been glancing at the roommate list just out of idle curiosity, only to find herself with wide, surprised eyes.

Oh, maaaan. Good-bye, Extra Bed Clause. But at least it was a girl (she assumed). Who seemed to have a normal name (actually, a very marketable name). And at least they'd put "Turtle" on the list rather than her real name.

So it wasn't that bad.

Next to her is a young woman with long, flowing blonde locks. She's dressed casually in a pair of red Ugg boots, short denim shorts, a slim-fitting light blue t-shirt paired with a very short half-sleeved hooded zip top in red.

"Two-ten. Turtle Wexler." Kara paused and stared at the name curiously and said, mainly to herself, "Turtle. Isn't that an animal?"

Sky had arrived at the picnic incognito, hoping he'd get a chance to observe his new classmates before mingling with them. Unfortunately, as he was incapable of dressing himself decently without putting on his uniform, he stuck out like a sore thumb, but was blissfully unaware of this fact.

He glanced around almost hopefully for Bridge or Z as he affixed his nametag to the front of his jacket, then wandered up to the roommates list to find his name.

"Michaelangelo," he repeated aloud to himself. "Huh. I wonder why he doesn't have a last name? He must be an alien or something." He stood off to one side of the table at parade rest, hoping his roommate would show soon.

Mikey had just dragged himself off of the causeway after a long trip on a cattle train.

Needless to say, he was just as disturbingly energetic as always as he bounded up to the roomie list and took a look over. It was good to be back in Fandom.

"Duuude," he said, in an entirely too chipper tone to the well-dressed individual standing next to him. "My big bro's a Bridge and my new roomie's the Sky. This place is still awesome."

Brooke looked at her roommate assignment, blinking once or twice. Despite the naming trends of kids nowadays, Michael was more than likely a boy's name. Which, okay, rooming with a boy did have its possibilities, but that also came with complications, and could she be here more than five minutes before those started popping up?

Those possible and hypothetical complications were why she refraimed from sticking her nametag directly onto her chest, but kept wearing it anyway, looking for someone who could be a Michael.

It hadn't really occurred to Triela that there was any chance of her not having a roommate. And "Amber" didn't sound like too weird a name. She looked around curiously wondering what an Amber looked like. And whether she read as much as Triela's last roommate.

Ugh. Tseng had never said anything about having to share his room with someone. Not that he wasn't used to it. After all, he and Rude lived together before Midgar went and blew up.

But this was different. This was going to be with what was probably some whiny high school kid with a pimply face and 'oh we have to study marks are so important or something whine whine whine' attitude.

He hadn't even met this Tamaki kid, and he already wanted to punch him in the teeth.

Seregil had never had a roommate for any extended period of time so this should prove to be an interesting experience. He looked around for someone named Harry Dresden.
