Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Lottie examined the glitter curiously. It wasn't quite what she'd expected of the French. Where were all the baguettes? Shouldn't someone be revolutionizing? Someone really ought to be hanging out in the shadows smoking something. Lottie would do it, but she was busy inspecting the food to see if any of it contained as much sausage as she felt was necessary.

Also, she didn't have any cigarettes.

And she didn't smoke.

For her part, Kathy was glad it was finally warming up. She and the East Coast had very different ideas of what spring meant, at least temperature-wise. Sighing a little at the layer of glitter over everything, she filled her plate with food (the first time of many no doubt) and made sure to give a friendly smile and wave to everyone she saw, newbies and old students alike.

Hanna ate some of the glitter, undisturbed by it after a semester of cake decorating with Derek and Pinkie. It didn't really taste like anything.

The other food did, though, and for this picnic (unlike her first) she was eating on top of a table, not under it.

Raven found herself a nice shady spot to people watch from, keeping an eye out especially for the pony. Or rather, especially for people reacting to the pony. Breaking the newbies was a fine Fandom tradition, after all. She didn't want to miss it.

Just because Pinkie wasn't teaching this summer didn't mean she was going to miss the Welcome Picnic. It was a party. Heck, it was the party. She was over by the desert table, rearranging the cakes. Or, you know, eating them.

At least she was putting new cakes out almost as fast as she was eating them?

His big sibling duty done, Face had decided to get his mingle on, at least until he'd been accosted by a squirrel who'd passed him a note explaining some very important summer welcoming traditions.

So now he had his shirt off and was liberally applying spare glitter to his skin and hair, because why wouldn't he.

It had now officially been a full semester, and Cassandra was still here.

If she was looking irritable but watchful as she sat at one of the picnic tables, fully armored and wielding a butter knife like it was a sword, well. That was why.

Edward was stacking the food up high already, though he was currently busying himself with an apple he'd poached off the table earlier. Mmm.

Ezra loaded up a plate with much more food than most people would have assumed he'd want to eat in one sitting. The joke was on them because he had no intention of sitting down anytime soon, but would rather be walking around and mingling. With his food, in his suit.

It was a good day.

Thorin gave the glitter a speculative poke with his finger before determining that it held no value and was not, in fact, a precious metal of any variety.

Men were so strange.

He was just going to look surly and short next to it, waiting for this to be some sort of very elaborate joke played upon him by his siblings.

Mike was here for the food. He might've claimed to be here to try and see whether there were any new werewolves coming to town, but really, he was here for the food.

So he was loading up a plate and looking pleased about it.

After making a round at the food table and doing some initial investigating, Dipper settled down on a bench and pulled out a beat up journal to start making notes on what he had noticed or discovered thus far.

Like the giant nerd he was.

At the moment he was writing down details on the trip through the bottomless pit and the arrival to Fandom.

So. Jesse was pretty convinced, by now, that this wasn't military school. And that he wasn't on a hidden camera show. And he was reasonably sure that he hadn't accidentally dropped acid, either -- that'd explain the pony over there, but no one's face was melting or anything, and he kind of knew the signs.

So for now, he was just going to get himself a plate of food and go sit somewhere to watch people -- his food probably wasn't getting eaten, because he was a little in shock, but he also kind of wanted the option.

Sorry for the staring, everyone. Jesse wasn't exactly...subtle.

Rapunzel loved welcome picnics. And this time she got to be helpful to a new kid! Just like she'd been helped when she first got here!!

It was really nice to give back, was all.

She filled up a plate (mostly with things she'd either never tried or had only tried once, and everything deserved at least two tries before she decided if she liked it, right?) and found herself a place to curl up in her hair.

Clarke still wasn't entirely sure she hadn't hit her head but there was less confusion on her face now and more fascination. Even before she landed on Earth she hadn't been used to seeing this sort of thing. It was weird seeing a group of people enjoying the outdoors instead of trying to fortify their camp.

And the food. As much as she wanted to go back to camp she wished this wasn't a dream if only for the food alone.

Glitter. Lovely. She'd be covered in the stuff for a week, now, just like at every dance.

Celia couldn't be too ill-tempered about it, though, and found herself a spot to people-watch with some tea. The new people seemed more interesting than not, this time around, though there was a twinge of the bittersweet to this picnic considering how rather much she was going to miss a few of the graduating seniors.

Melissa Hoover had gotten her wish. Well, one of her wishes. While it wasn't the loving, comfortable family she'd wanted to place Jasper with, she had gotten him away from Lobo's Nod and his grandmother.

She'd faked sympathy when she'd broken the news to Jasper but Jasper knew she'd been gloating inside. Pleased and proud that she'd gotten her way. It made Jasper hate her.

People matter. People are real.

Jasper shook the thought away and glanced around at his surroundings. Seemed innocent enough. Ridiculous, really. Jasper didn't know if he'd ever been to a picnic. It wasn't like serial killers held an annual bash each year.

Ada was actually really digging the glitter, since she often used body glitter to disguise her scales around townies. And since she was already wearing some...

She dusted some glitter into her hair and on to her clothes and arms. If this was 'school spirit,' maybe being trapped in buildings that didn't move wouldn't be completely claustrophobic.

Kira hadn't wasted much time before getting a plate of food, although she'd tried to stick to some healthier things to balance out the chocolate taking up about half of her plate. Sugar would keep her excited for the whole afternoon!

Ronan had no plans to take his shirt off or to let any glitter touch him but he had brought Chainsaw out with him today. The bird was currently crawling back and forth across his shoulders while Ronan sipped some water.

"There's glitter everywhere!" Alluka squealed, as she got a good look around the picnic. "It's so pretty!"

She looked at her stuffed bunny.

"Would you like to be glittered?"

The bunny didn't really have an opinion on that, but that was fine, Alluka was used to making up its opinions to suit herself.

Clint behaved himself and only grabbed one plate of food. He didn't have much of a reason to be here since he wasn't teaching, but it beat sitting around the house and doing nothing. Plus, if there was anyone new that he knew, or who randomly recognized him, it'd be totally worth it.

Flick figured this was the last picnic he'd probably attend so getting himself out of bed and down to the lawn seemed like a thing to do. He wasn't going to change things up and get right into the crowd, though.

Nope, he'd stay on the fringes, watching and being silent.

Cosima took a sandwich and some chips, tried to sidestep the glitter as best as she could, and sat by a tree to try to figure out what exactly she'd gotten herself into. At least the people were pretty.
