Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Rapunzel loved welcome picnics. And this time she got to be helpful to a new kid! Just like she'd been helped when she first got here!!

It was really nice to give back, was all.

She filled up a plate (mostly with things she'd either never tried or had only tried once, and everything deserved at least two tries before she decided if she liked it, right?) and found herself a place to curl up in her hair.

Raven came to find her at some point, bringing her own plate of snacks. "Spot anyone extra interesting yet?" she asked. "I think we could start a drinking game for full bodysuits with this crop."

"Not reeeeally, but I've totally managed to completely disorient at least one guy by telling him I've never heard of the country he's prince of," Rapunzel said, wincing a little. "Who's got a bodysuit? I saw that one girl -- um, person, but she looks like a girl? -- in the purple."

"I saw her," Raven said. "And there's a big guy -- guy shaped person -- in gray and yellow. I saw him talking to the long-haired surly teacher."

"I wonder if it's like, armor," Rapunzel mused. "Like knights, but not the kinds of knights we're used to seeing, you know?"

"Oh! They could be space knights!"

"Maybe with space steeds, and space castles!" Don't get ahead of yourself, Rapunzel.

"Flying robot horses!" Raven cheered. "Do you think they fight space dragons?"

Dipper was in the middle of returning to his studying spot when he spotted Rapunzel.

"Whoa... That's a lot of hair."

"I'm growing it out," Rapunzel said primly, unable to keep from letting a giggle escape.

She'd had a whole year to come up with sassy responses, but that didn't mean she was especially good at giving them.

"Clearly!" Dipper agreed. "You must spend a fortune in shampoo. Sorry. I do t mean to be rude. I'm Dipper Pines. First day here. I'm sure that's pretty obvious."

"It hardly shows," Rapunzel assured him, shaking her head solemnly. "And you're not rude. If I had a penny for every time someone asked me about my hair...well, I'd have an awful lot of pennies, I guess. Probably like a couple dollars, even."

"Oh, well then I guess I'm in good company then," Dipper said with an awkward laugh. "All those pennies would help with the shampoo I guess."

Inwardly Dipper felt horribly awkward on this topic. Shampoo? Really Dipper?

"I should start charging," Rapunzel teased. "Five cents to ask me about my hair! I'll need a jar or something to carry around with me. And I'd kind of feel bad charging money for curiosity."

It was a tough hypothetical decision, Rapunzel, you're right.

"Well, you wouldn't want that I guess," Dipper agreed. "Have you been a student here for a while?"
