Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Oh glitter, where couldn't you go?

Lottie examined the glitter curiously. It wasn't quite what she'd expected of the French. Where were all the baguettes? Shouldn't someone be revolutionizing? Someone really ought to be hanging out in the shadows smoking something. Lottie would do it, but she was busy inspecting the food to see if any of it contained as much sausage as she felt was necessary.

Also, she didn't have any cigarettes.

And she didn't smoke.

For her part, Kathy was glad it was finally warming up. She and the East Coast had very different ideas of what spring meant, at least temperature-wise. Sighing a little at the layer of glitter over everything, she filled her plate with food (the first time of many no doubt) and made sure to give a friendly smile and wave to everyone she saw, newbies and old students alike.

Hanna ate some of the glitter, undisturbed by it after a semester of cake decorating with Derek and Pinkie. It didn't really taste like anything.

The other food did, though, and for this picnic (unlike her first) she was eating on top of a table, not under it.

Raven found herself a nice shady spot to people watch from, keeping an eye out especially for the pony. Or rather, especially for people reacting to the pony. Breaking the newbies was a fine Fandom tradition, after all. She didn't want to miss it.

Just because Pinkie wasn't teaching this summer didn't mean she was going to miss the Welcome Picnic. It was a party. Heck, it was the party. She was over by the desert table, rearranging the cakes. Or, you know, eating them.

At least she was putting new cakes out almost as fast as she was eating them?

His big sibling duty done, Face had decided to get his mingle on, at least until he'd been accosted by a squirrel who'd passed him a note explaining some very important summer welcoming traditions.

So now he had his shirt off and was liberally applying spare glitter to his skin and hair, because why wouldn't he.

It had now officially been a full semester, and Cassandra was still here.

If she was looking irritable but watchful as she sat at one of the picnic tables, fully armored and wielding a butter knife like it was a sword, well. That was why.

Welcome picnic. Best day of the semester.

Edward was stacking the food up high already, though he was currently busying himself with an apple he'd poached off the table earlier. Mmm.

Cassandra wasn't staring at him. She was not.

She was just... turning inexplicably red while shoving something food-shaped in her mouth, yes.

Face beamed at her, which certainly added to the overall sparkliness. "Good picnic?"

"The food is fine," Cassandra muttered. "Is this truly necessary, Face?"

The whole shirtless sparkly-- ugh.

"The squirrels gave me a note," Face replied innocently. "It's tradition."

The shirtlessness, yes, the sparkles, not so much.

"To wander about a crowded picnic, naked from the waist up?" Cassandra asked. Dryly.

Incredulously.

Still not looking at him.

"That's what it says," Face said, offering her the note which read:

NO SHIRTZ 4 BOY ON NOOBIE DAY. MUST ALSO HAS SPARKLYZ!

"They are squirrels," Cassandra felt the need to point out, after she'd snagged the note from his hands so she didn't have to look at him. "They are filthy and crude and not great sources of advice. I would think you would know this."

"They also gossip about everyone on the island, so I figure I'll stay on their good side," Face pointed out.

"Ugh," Cassandra huffed.

She passed the note back to him and immediately got an eyeful of shirtless Face again. Sigh.

Could she go any redder? Apparently so!

"Hot out?" Face asked, far too innocently.

"You are not funny," Cassandra muttered. "You know what you are doing."

"I'm providing a warm welcome to the new kids."

"You could do so with your shirt on," Cassandra pressed.

Ezra loaded up a plate with much more food than most people would have assumed he'd want to eat in one sitting. The joke was on them because he had no intention of sitting down anytime soon, but would rather be walking around and mingling. With his food, in his suit.

It was a good day.

"But I'd get glitter all over it," Face said.
