Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Raven found herself a nice shady spot to people watch from, keeping an eye out especially for the pony. Or rather, especially for people reacting to the pony. Breaking the newbies was a fine Fandom tradition, after all. She didn't want to miss it.

Ringo knew she was staring. Hopefully, though, it wouldn't be considered too rude? Because... well, she had seen many strange things in her short lifetime, but never anything that prepared her for... well... did physics even work like that?

She saw Ringo staring, and waved a hoof. "Hello! Would you like a cupcake?"

"I..." Er. Fortunately, Ringo had courtesy to fall back on. "Thank you," she said, with a slight bow. "A cupcake sounds very good."

Auto-pilot was useful when you were talking to... well... Ringo wasn't entirely sure, actually.

Hey, now, she was clearly a pony! For her world's definition of "pony", anyway.

"I'm Pinkie Pie," Pinkie said, handing her a cupcake. "What's your name?"

Ringo was trying not to stare at the cupcake in an attempt to understand how this "Pinkie Pie" could hand her anything. "Oh," she said, realizing that she was being rude. "I'm Ringo Noyamano." Her upper body bobbed in a polite bow as she introduced herself.

Then she realized the cupcake was still waiting for her, and she quickly reached out to take it, offering another bow. "Thank you for the cupcake."

Pinkie tried to bow in return. It came out as more of a head-bob. "You're superduper welcome!"

For a moment or two, Ringo just stood there, holding the cupcake awkwardly, not sure what to do next. Then she remembered that she was holding a cupcake.

It was from... well, whatever Pinkie Pie was, but it was still a cupcake. So she carefully peeled away the paper wrapper and took a small, experimental bite.

"Oh. This is very good!" She didn't mean to sound quite so surprised.

Pinkie waved a hoof in a distinct 'aww-shucks' gesture. "I'm glad you like it! It's one of my very favoritest recipes."

"Oh." Ringo blinked. "You made it yourself?"

"Well, honestly, I've never really tried it?" Ringo had been kind of busy growing up, and baking had never really been a priority.

"Ooo, now you've got me sad I'm not teaching baking this summer. You could have signed up!" She wasn't actually very sad, no. "You should totally try it, though. You get to make yummy things to share with friends!"

"Well, doing stuff with friends is definitely good," Ringo agreed, smiling. "Though you can also just hang out, and that's pretty great, too!"

"I'm surprised you're not taking this chance to mess with people," Kathy said, coming to settle next to Raven. "Casually turning into other people and animals during conversations, then telling the newbies that everyone can do that or something."

"If I told them everyone could do it, then I wouldn't get to feel as special," Raven said. "You should have seen the look on my new little sib's face, though." She bugged her eyes out in demonstration. "He was trying to be all cool about everything, until I turned into a giant man in front of him."

"I need to find a way to work my bouncing into general conversation," Kathy decided immediately. "It's so much more impressive than my ability to eat three plates of food in a sitting."

"You could offer to go get them something from across town?" Raven suggested. "Go zipping off and back."

"That might need to wait until they know the geography of town a little better," Kathy said thoughtfully. "Everyone is usually impressed enough when I do this," she added, pulling her leg up into a vertical split and then wrapping her leg around her head. "Though I could do this long before I was about to run a forty second mile."

Raven's eyes widened a little. "I could do that," she said. "But on me it'd require moving my organs out of the way."

"More just stretching your tendons appropriately," Kathy said, resolving to get Raven some anatomy books anyway, dammit. "I assure you, all of my organs are intact and in their customary places."

She really probably should. Raven had SO MUCH more potential than she realized. "Well, that's good. I'd hate for you to have ruptured something just to show off."

And Kathy was all about helping friends reach their true potential. Though hopefully without encouraging the 'future evil villain' bit.

Sorry, Mystique. Kathy was a superhero. It was a thing.

"Pffft, this is nothing," Kathy assured her, before doing a handstand that turned into a careful pose. "This is far more likely to result in injury than a simple standing split."
