Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"I..." Er. Fortunately, Ringo had courtesy to fall back on. "Thank you," she said, with a slight bow. "A cupcake sounds very good."

Auto-pilot was useful when you were talking to... well... Ringo wasn't entirely sure, actually.

Hey, now, she was clearly a pony! For her world's definition of "pony", anyway.

"I'm Pinkie Pie," Pinkie said, handing her a cupcake. "What's your name?"

Ringo was trying not to stare at the cupcake in an attempt to understand how this "Pinkie Pie" could hand her anything. "Oh," she said, realizing that she was being rude. "I'm Ringo Noyamano." Her upper body bobbed in a polite bow as she introduced herself.

Then she realized the cupcake was still waiting for her, and she quickly reached out to take it, offering another bow. "Thank you for the cupcake."

Pinkie tried to bow in return. It came out as more of a head-bob. "You're superduper welcome!"

For a moment or two, Ringo just stood there, holding the cupcake awkwardly, not sure what to do next. Then she remembered that she was holding a cupcake.

It was from... well, whatever Pinkie Pie was, but it was still a cupcake. So she carefully peeled away the paper wrapper and took a small, experimental bite.

"Oh. This is very good!" She didn't mean to sound quite so surprised.

Pinkie waved a hoof in a distinct 'aww-shucks' gesture. "I'm glad you like it! It's one of my very favoritest recipes."

But how?

The same way she did everything else.

"Yuppers! Baking is super fun."

"Well, honestly, I've never really tried it?" Ringo had been kind of busy growing up, and baking had never really been a priority.

"Ooo, now you've got me sad I'm not teaching baking this summer. You could have signed up!" She wasn't actually very sad, no. "You should totally try it, though. You get to make yummy things to share with friends!"

"Well, doing stuff with friends is definitely good," Ringo agreed, smiling. "Though you can also just hang out, and that's pretty great, too!"

"It is! You can tell stories and have snacks and save the world!"

Pinkie wasn't good at inactivity.

[personal profile] soniaroadsqueen 2015-05-02 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Ringo laughed. "Well, I suppose you can." Though saving the world was kind of complicated. The last time Ringo had done it, it hadn't exactly been fun.

The key to making it fun was to have your bestest friends along with you! Also to be from a children's cartoon show.

"What do you like to do with your friends?"
soniaroadsqueen: (having a blast)

Oh, oh! That one was easy! "AirTrek!" she declared. Then remembered that those apparently weren't a common thing here.

"Um... I can show you, if you like?"

"Sure! It sounds like loads of fun!" And also probably something a pegasus was better prepared for than an earth pony, but Pinkie had never let that stop her.

[personal profile] soniaroadsqueen 2015-05-02 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Ringo swung her backpack from her shoulders, set it down, and opened it to pull up a pair of... well, they looked an awful lot like inline skates, but with only two wheels each. "AirTrek!" she declared excitedly.

Though it suddenly struck her that they probably wouldn't be especially useful to Pinkie Pie so maybe Pinkie Pie would not be as excited about them.

Re: Mingling and Such [Summer 2015]

[personal profile] soniaroadsqueen 2015-05-02 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, no," Ringo said. Then paused. "Well, I guess they're kind of similar? But ATs are way better." She held one of them up, and reached up to spin the back wheel. "These have miniaturized motors in the wheels, so you can go faster, farther, and higher than you can with a pair of roller skates."

Speaking of violating the laws of physics, Ringo had once skipped through the air on a carpet of paper airplanes.

Ringo laughed. "That's true. And you don't really have the momentum to jump from too high, either." Whereas Ringo had once used ATs to ride down a space elevator. As you do.

"Could I?" Ringo's smile was almost impossibly huge at that question. Then, just in case her expression didn't make her answer obvious, she nodded. "Yes!" Please!

"Though," she looked down, "grass isn't the best surface to use them on." In that way, they were like skates.
