Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"They also gossip about everyone on the island, so I figure I'll stay on their good side," Face pointed out.

"Ugh," Cassandra huffed.

She passed the note back to him and immediately got an eyeful of shirtless Face again. Sigh.

Could she go any redder? Apparently so!

"Hot out?" Face asked, far too innocently.

"You are not funny," Cassandra muttered. "You know what you are doing."

"I'm providing a warm welcome to the new kids."

"You could do so with your shirt on," Cassandra pressed.

"But I'd get glitter all over it," Face said.

"Why are you wearing the glitter to begin with?" Cassandra demanded.

"Because the squirrels said to." And it made him feel pretty.

Cassandra made a noise that wasn't quite disgusted. It sounded a lot like three vastly different kinds of noises thrown together into a general incoherent sound that fully communicated her feelings on the topic.

Stop being pretty, Face.

Face could no more stop being pretty than Cassandra could stop being a scary, scary tank.

"You have no shame," she added, a moment later.

Everyone in the conversation was already aware of that.

Why else do you think the squirrels chose him to revive shirtless newbie day?

"You noticed?"

"It would be very hard not to notice at the moment," Cassandra said dryly.

At least she was able to look him in the face now. That was progress.

"Always good to have you notice me." Because she was completely right about him being shameless.

Apparently she could flush more! "You are an impossible flirt, as well," she said.

Face grinned. "I play to my strengths."

"Stop humoring me," Cassandra ordered him.

Face's expression turned serious. For a fraction of a second at least. "Okay, I promise I will wear a shirt tomorrow, and there will be no glitter. I swear."

"Good."

It was good. Yes. Very good. Good idea. ~~Maybe she could stop thinking about climbing him like a tree, then.~~

"...Though I doubt you will be able to get rid of the glitter in so short a time," she added. "It is worse than sand."

"It's not as coarse, so it's got that going for it."

Notice how Face didn't incorporate sand comparisons in his flirting, because who did that?

Very strange people.

"I suppose you do not have to worry about it finding its way somewhere unseemly," she said.

Well, so much for avoiding that mental image.

Face did not say a thing. He didn't have to, his raised eyebrow said it all.

"Maker's breath," Cassandra hissed. "Are you enjoying yourself?"

It should be obvious the answer was yes. "Immensely."
