Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"I'm Alluka!" she said, beaming at getting to tell someone her name. She'd been asked for it! So much was new today. "Are, are you a student too?"

"Nopers!" Pinkie said. "I'm a teacher. Well, I'm usually a teacher. I'm taking a break for the summer and working at the candy shop in town instead but I just couldn't miss the very bestest party of the season and getting to ~~break the brains of~~ meet all the new people coming to the island!"

"There's a candy shop?!"

That was the most important part of what Pinkie had said, right? Right?

Well yeah.

"There is! It's called Wonka's Sweet Shop, which is such a great name. Wonka! It's so silly and fun to say! I'm going to work there on Fridays and you should totally come by to visit me sometime! There's also a pretty good bakery --" not as good as the one the Cakes ran back in Ponyville, mind you, but pretty good "-- and a nifty little coffee shop and loads of funny little human restaurants that don't even serve hay."

Her eyes got bigger and bigger with each thing Pinkie listed off.

Alluka had never been to any of these things before.

"I'll visit you!" she promised, then faltered a little. "We're all allowed to go and visit people right? We don't need permission?"

"I don't think you do?" Pinkie said. "I see students in town all the time. But I don't live in the dorms, so I don't know if you need a hall pass or something."

"I don't want to be bad," Alluka confessed. "So I guess I'll have to ask if I can visit you. But if I can, I will!"

"Okidokiloki!" Pinkie said happily. "But don't worry too much. I think you have to try pretty hard to be bad around here."

She giggled. "Do some people try to be bad?"

"Well sure! It takes all sorts, you know."

"Does it?"

It wasn't like Alluka would know that!

"Oh definitely! The world would be pretty boring if everypony was just like everypony else."

"Oh."

That wasn't something Alluka had ever thought about. She blinked at the cakes, rather than think about it now, too.

"What sort of cake is your favourite?"

"I like the apple ones!" Pinkie said, offering Alluka a little swirly-iced cupcake with an apple slice on top. "They remind me of my bestest friend Applejack back home."

Ooooo!

"Thank you!" Alluka remembered to say, as she took the cupcake. "Do you have lots of friends?"

"I sure do! I'm friend with everypony. But I have one extra special human friend here and five extraspecial pony friends back home. Do you have an extraspecial friend back home?"

Alluka looked down at both her cupcake and her stuffed bunny and fidgeted a bit.

"Killua visits me sometimes," she said, after a moment. "He's one of my brothers."

That was... yeah, that was the closest she had to a friend.

"Awwww!" Pinkie wibbled a little. "Well, that's okay, my friend Twilight didn't find us until she was practically an adult. It's never too late to find your very special friends."

"You think so?" she asked hopefully. "I'd like them! Lots!"

"I know it," Pinkie said, with absolute confidence. "Getting away and out of your comfort zone is a big part of finding new friends. I know I was really nervous when I left the rock farm for Ponyville, but it's where I met all five of my bestest pony friends ever. Why, I bet you'll meet somepony here at this picnic!"

"At this picnic?" That soon? Could she, could she, could she? "And they'll be my friends?"

She was going to have friends!

"I don't see why not! You're super friendly, I can tell already."

She giggled. "I like you too," Alluka decided. "I'm going to go see if I can get permission to come visit you, okay?"

"Totally!" Pinkie looked around to see if she could point out Zoe. "The principal's usually around here, somewhere!"

She had only the foggiest idea of what a principal really did, but Alluka knew that they were in charge.

"Is the principal scary?" she asked. "I can ask if they're not scary."

If they were scary, Alluka was going to avoid. Scary people were usually mean.
