Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were tables and chairs set up all around the lawn. Some were in the sun, where folks could soak up that precious vitamin D, and some were in the shade where folks could stay cool.

All of the tables had at least a little glitter on them though. It was a welcoming gesture to get glitter someplace you didn't know glitter could go!

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Thorin shook his head at that, also looking a little deflated by that. "Unless that's another word for halflings."

"Depends," Anders said, pursing his lips. "Are halflings seven feet tall with horns like oxen and grey skin?"

He'd never actually met a Qunari. The descriptions he'd read had been fanciful.

"Ah." Anders looked sad for a moment, then brightened. "Well, even if you're from a different world, it must be closer to mine than most of the others. Most of them only have humans."

"Are you from Cassandra's world then?" Her being the only other to know dwarf on sight.

"Yes," Anders said, glancing the girl's way. "We spend half our time arguing about politics from our world and the other half agreeing things are much crazier here. It's fun."

"Probably for the best," Anders said. "She's not a bad sort,though. Settled in her opinions, but a good fighter and not half as prone to stabbing things that don't deserve it as some of that kind."

Anders tilted his head. "That's ... not actually a phrase I've heard," he admitted. "Stubborn as a stubborn dwarf, maybe."

"Well, at least that's the same," Anders told him. "Ours call themselves 'Children of the Stone.' They have this whole" -- he waved a hand -- "special connection thing. I've never been sure if it's true or a myth."

This was getting more interesting, all the parallels. The same but not the same. Probably because Dragon Age's writers borrowed from the best.

"Do you know what your humans believe?" he asked curiously. "I wonder if that's similar, too."
